December 30, 200421 yr I've watched for the last few days as one thread after another has disintegrated into name-calling, borish comments and worse. Being a Marlins fan has been very frustrating this off-season, and like jackals, we seem obsessed with devouring own. People who have gotten along all season long because of their shared love of our hometown team are now finding themselves in mortal combat. For my own part, I have to admit from time to time I've participated in this blood sport. It has to stop. As the new year approaches, for myself, I pledge to find better ways of making my points without acrimony. I hope others here can look inside themselves and do the same. I know we can do better.
December 30, 200421 yr I agree, it seems as if people have allowed themselves to become very mean towards others on this board.
December 30, 200421 yr Well teenagers will do whatever they can in their power to try to make themselves out to be smarter than they actually are. When individuals start debating baseball here it doesn't take long for someone in that younger age category who has no idea where he is standing to start with the insults or the condescending attitude to try to save face. It's pathetic, but unless their parents add parental controls to their internet access it's something that is going to exist. The whole pessimistic attitude is annoying, the self-pity pathetic and the self-promotion as a good fan sickening... I'd be surprised how few meaningful posts would be left over if every post was made sure to not ooze with any of the above sentiments.

This is why I have created my own posting rule: "if I have nothing relevant to say or add to a conversation, or if I cannot be sarcastic if the opportunity is presented :-), I prefer not to post at all". It's all a matter of understanding how different people's opinion can be and how not to argue for the sake of arguing. :thumbup
December 30, 200421 yr ahh its so sad..does it really make a difference if we are mean to eachother...i am not mean to anybody but who is gonna stop me if i am. actully i suck at being mean and rude. not my style. anyway whats really the point. people who make stupid post. dont wanna see it fine moderator delete it. if u wanna delete this post do it...think i care...umm no. jeez people i mean can u really think the marlins are gonna go all the way this year with the way the yankees and sox are looking. I mean i want us to win but i believe the compitition for THIS YEAR is too much and this has been more of a bad off season than a good one.
December 30, 200421 yr Ah, c'mon Marlins2003, half the fun of a message board is seeing conflict. It's human nature. That's why Jerry Springer is still on the air. I can agree that at times it gets out of hand and I may be guilty of some acrimony to a certain poster, but there is just something about that little bugger that annoys the crap out of me. I'll try to be nicer to the little kid.
December 30, 200421 yr Wasn't it one year ago that we were all still cheering and excited after the Marlins won the WS? Yeah the Marlins didn't have the greatest offseason last year either, but most people here kept their cool and discussed things like civilized people. The boards right now are in a sad state of affairs. I hope that it can be fixed rather quickly because this used to be a great place to post and be among friends. Only you can get it to be like that once again...
December 30, 200421 yr I agree. The boards been better though without some of the troublemakers that I won't mention. But I think its been a frustrating season for many of us on the board with the Dolphins cellar dwellers in the AFC East, the Canes not having a great season, election year, just a very frustrating year.

December 31, 200421 yr Marlins2003 I've noticed even you've been unusually crabby lately. :shifty Let the new year's resolutions commence!
