According to ESPNEWS, he wants....get this....

22 MILLION DOLLARS!!!

In arbitration to play next season for the Astros.

Start high, he will get like 16.

He was the Cy Winner.

Did more than the 25 mil. A-Rod did.

Mmm i'd say 16 is a bit ambitious, but not much....

I'd think he will get 13 or 14 million......But starting at 22 when your what, 41 years old??

I just find it to be a bit selfish, but hey if I were him i'd probably do the same thing.... :lol

God forbid he say whether he is actually going to play or not this season(which it seems like he will), but 22 million is a little ridiculous but like Passion said start high, he will get 16 mil if he does play

Didnt he come really cheap last year? This kind of like one year for two seasons.

He got $5 million last year after incentives.

For a Cy Young...thats like dirt.

Laughable...he won't get anything close to that especially not in today's market and although he is coming off a Cy Young season he is still 41.

He took an undermarket deal that guaranteed him $5 million, of which $3.5 million was deferred without interest until July 1, 2006. Clemens earned an additional $1,825,000 in bonuses based on his selection to the NL All-Star team and Houston's home attendance, which was more than 3.3 million, including the postseason.

Houston television KRIV-TV, citing Major League Baseball sources, reported Thursday night the Astros and Roger Clemens were "very close to agreement" on a one-year contract that will make the seven-time Cy Young Award winner the highest-paid pitcher in history.

According to the station, the Astros will give Clemens a guaranteed salary in excess of the previous record of the highest salary earned by a pitcher in a single season, $17.5 million last year by Pedro Martinez, then with the Boston Red Sox. The station also reported the agreement could be announced as soon as Friday.
