BIG NO to a DLee Trade!

Featured Replies

I hell hope that Dereck Lee is not traded at this point of the season. After watching tonights game, I don't think is wise to tinker with the infield. I feel Dereck Lee will continue to get better every game.

His Defense is needed if this team wants to compete.

Baltimore has a couple pitchers who I covet. I'd still trade Lee and either Bump or prospects for their their guys and Conine. More pitching, more pitching, more pitching.

its true, we dont want to mess with the lineup but if we can get more bullpen help or another starter and a first basemen that can produce at a cheaper price, do you do it? its a hard question. i think it depends on what we get in return, we shouldnt just dump him.

Now that we have Urbina. We shouldn't make any trade with the Orioles unless we can get Ponson, and we'd have to give up a lot to get him.

What if we could get Ponson for Lee, straight up? :mischief2

Can we have both of them? LOL probaly not, I am sure the Orioles would want someone to play 1st and I doubt we will give up Stokes after trading Gonzalez.

The guys I want are (relief) Ligtenberg and (starter) Johnson with Conine for Lee, Bump and whoever they want.

its tempting but i would say no, because who would cover first? if your thinking about the future (which im tired of) than you take it, although i dont think Angelos has a drug habit, at least not one bad enough.

I would say stay with DLee, the guy is starting to get hot with the bat and we need his defense. Tonight, he saved a couple of hits by digging balls from the dirt. And his hitting was nice too. If we add Conine and try to trade for Ponson, use prospects only if that is possible. I am tired of all these high-ceiling prospects soon to be in our everyday lineup in 2007... We need to win now! :w00t

Yea Conine Provides Power, clutch Hitting and can hit. Derek Only Provides Power and Defense. Lee hasnt done his Job at the 4th Spot and he has a very low Avg. Conine is a very good Hitter with Men on base and thats what we need to Contend

If I were offered that trade Lee for Ponson, I'd have a hard time turning it down. The guy is tied for the AL lead in wins and is a legitimate #1, or #2 start. but I also wouldn't want to mess with our line-up. I don't know what I would do.

i have to make one more comment after mentioning Angelos and drugs. am i the only person that thinks he looks like a member of the mob? i mean seriously, the man looks like could easily make an appearance on the Sopranos. God i hope i dont get a "visitor". if i go missing for over a week, than you know what happened, or i just went on vacation to the DR.

I will eat the big crow and say it will be better to keep Lee and ride it out with him till winter. Shamrock can now claim victory, but if DLee screws up, you will hear it from me!

Say it ain't so..........

A hot derrick lee has more value than a cold derrick lee so I am thrilled to see him contribute. Keep doin' it buddy until the day you're traded. And don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.

Its really about the money. I don't them signing the guy after arbitration, he has tremendous trade value right now because his lower salary this year, when blended with next year's arbitration driven $6.5-7 million in 2004 works for larger market or more affluent teams rather well.

So again, I say take a shot, bring in Conine and some more pitching. It's going to help us NOW, when we need it.

2004 is a million years away.

I am convinced that D Lee will stay in SoFlo until at least the end of his contract (through next season) especially with AdGone who was our hgihest level future 1b (stratton doesnt count hes like 26 years old) Stokes should be ready just in time if Lee leaves and if he doesnt we will have a nice problem to solve.

1b is not an "Organizational need" what we would like is a few more options @ 2b and ss in the minors (...and the Hooper fans scramble to the keyboards...) another need would be C but thats mostly as roster fillers since we have 3 ML recievers and 1 solid prospect and while we are at it lets get some pitching how bout it?
