Since polls seem to be the hip thing to do nowadays...I thought itd be cool to do a baseball player oriented one - to make an all-time great team.

Im going to make these nomination threads for each postion (with closers getting a thread as well) and then when we amass a good number of candidates, We will vote on them with the winner getting immortalized in MarlinBaseball.com lore forever.

Any player, who has ever played, may be nominated, since this is an all-time team.

Please try not to nominate more than 2 or 3 on your own, as this gets everyone involved.

First up: Catcher

THE POLLS ARE NOW OPENED AND THIS THREAD IS OPEN TO DEBATE YOUR CHOICES

I give an honorable mention to Carter. Good call :thumbup

Pudge

Im going to have to look at soem stats before I vote on this one.

They give you cash, which is just as good as money.

I voted Gibson.

Pudge.

I also went with Pudge.

I went with Pudge, but it's such a tossup...He plays sick defense, he's clutch at the plate, and he really knows how to control a game...

I voted Gibson.

i guess we're the only two...

Just off the top of my head I think that Pudge, Piazza, and Bench are top 3 on here. So Im gonna look at their stats...

Pudge:

Hits: 2051

HR's: 250

AVG: .306

Awards: 11 GG's, 1 MVP, 11 Time All Star, 1 Ring

Bench:

Hits: 2048

HR's: 389

AVG: .267

Awards: ROY, 10 GG's, 2 MVP, 14 Time All Star, 1 WS MVP, 2 Rings

Piazza:

Hits: 1829

HR's: 378

AVG: .315

Awards: ROY, 11 Time All-Star

Bench has the history and some greta stats, but with Pudge still playing and with a good three more years left, im going with him.

if gibson ever got the chance to play in the MLB, this isn't even close

the legends about the guy are absurd
