Twins called the Marlins?

Featured Replies

I don't know if this is true or not...but it appears the Twins called the Marlins about Castillo before trading for Shannon Stewart today. The report is the Twins offered Rivas and a prospect for Castillo. I'll try to find out if this is true or not..

The front office would be stupid to change the team around now...if they have to wait till' the end of the season.

Dont get the players pissed now, and if we're winning keep the team together

That's why they didn't make the trade! :p

yea i know...but Beinfest should'nt have even taken the call :p ;)

No. You always have to keep your ears open to every offer...

i guess, but i dont care if they would give us ...Radke and Hunter...i dont want to screw up a winning team, thats all i was trying to say :mischief

They give us Radke and Hunter for Castillo I'd be jumping for joy! But I get your point...

That would be a good trade. The twins need Castillo if they want a playoff's again. Rivas would be no big deal for us, we have enough speed and contact....

WE need Castillo...

Castillo wouldnt be 'the player' to get the Twins to the playoffs....

Twins wont even make the playoffs anyway

Lets not oversell Castillo. He has excellent defense, .311AVG and .375OBP. But he has only stolen 14 bases - and has been caught 9 times! I think he may not be fully recovered from his hip, but I also feel an injury like that to a player who relies on speed is not good at all. He is going to have more problems down the road.

That said, I dont think what the Twins were offering, per Edcanes, was good at all. If they offered one of their talented OFers, Kielty, Cuddyer, or Mourneau (which I doubt because he is their future 1B I believe) then we could talk. But even that is not particularly great, because our OF, about AVG as a whole unit, is already cluttered with like-talent. That is the reason this deal wasnt made, but I think that perhaps the Marlins are shopping Castillo for that missing piece, or are at least open to the option.

I wasn't impressed with the offer either, which concerns me greatly. If that's all Castillo is worth now, I can only imagine what kind of garbage the Fish will get for him at the end of the season if they hold on to him past the deadline, when they have less leverage in trade talks.

The Twins' hopes for the playoffs are all but gone...I think they've lost something like 23 out of 28...they're in 3rd place in a division where you don't even have to be at .500 to be in second...
