Posted March 14, 200519 yr comment_451279 Has anyone had succss stealing at all? I can't steal for crap, but everyone else's speedsters always make it before Castillo can tag them. Whats up with that!? Link to comment https://www.marlinsbaseball.com/topic/26018-stealing-in-mvp-2005/ Share on other sites

March 14, 200519 yr comment_451281 It's easy. Lead off twice. Slide head first. Link to comment https://www.marlinsbaseball.com/topic/26018-stealing-in-mvp-2005/?&do=findComment&comment=451281 Share on other sites

March 14, 200519 yr comment_451283 I've been able to steal some bases with pierre, and very few with castillo. Usuallu ijust take the full lead using the anlong stick and then press up when the pitcher starts his motion. However, more ofthen than not i'll get thrown out whne i run with castillo. pierre has been caught like 5 times in about 18 chances Link to comment https://www.marlinsbaseball.com/topic/26018-stealing-in-mvp-2005/?&do=findComment&comment=451283 Share on other sites
March 14, 200519 yr comment_451284 The most important thing to remember is to slide head first. You can even anticipate where the throw will be and slide to a certain side of the base. With a guy like Alex Sanchez (90+ speed) I never get thrown out at second unless it's a Billy Wagner fastball or something. March 14, 200519 yr comment_451285 Key is to get the double lead. Have your hitter take a practice swing to give your runner more time. Link to comment https://www.marlinsbaseball.com/topic/26018-stealing-in-mvp-2005/?&do=findComment&comment=451285 Share on other sites
March 15, 200519 yr comment_451286 Double lead, obviously. Also, I wouldn't bother against a pitcher who's throwing mostly fastballs. I'm pretty good at anticipating curveballs and going on those. Sometimes the runner just gets a really bad jump and I have no idea why. March 15, 200519 yr comment_451287 A little ryhme to go by, worked in sandlot ball too "take a big lead, run on the offspeed" kinda crappy... but it works... March 15, 200519 yr comment_451288 A lot of it also depends on the catcher. I can steal constantly against Piazza, but against Matheny and other quality catchers I can rarely steal a bag even with JP. If you're really having that much trouble though, just go into settings and reduce the "steal delay" setting to like -10. March 16, 200519 yr comment_451289 I get plenty of steals with my top 3 in the order: Crawford, Upton, Baldelli. :thumbup Link to comment https://www.marlinsbaseball.com/topic/26018-stealing-in-mvp-2005/?&do=findComment&comment=451289 Share on other sites

March 16, 200519 yr comment_451291 Stealing was easier in MVP 2004 711852[/snapback] I like it that it's tougher to steal, you really have to pick your spots and run when you think the pitcher is throwing off speed. I do pretty good with JP and Luis stealing. March 16, 200519 yr comment_451292 Last year's version was ridiculous in terms of stealing. If Alex "Dirty" Sanchez got on base, I could easily steal 2nd and 3rd if the batter was right handed. In case you haven't noticed, if the pitcher throws 2 pitches in the strike zone, resulting in an 0-2 count, the next pitch will nearly always be a ball.
