Flying_Mollusk
Lets keep this one civil. My opinion, as Ive stated before, is that Id prefer if she didnt run because 1)I dont think this country is ready for a women president and 2)Hillary is a polarizing figure. That said, its clear Hillary is trying to develop the image of social conservatism(or least not liberal) and military hawk. Now my opinion is that if it works, Ill be convinced that the American people can easily be swayed by political maneuvering. (though Im pretty convinced already). Now instead of those saying Hillary is a liberal freak, lets hear as to why she would not win or why she would be a bad president, legit reasons. btw, recent poll had 53% of people saying they would like to see her run, whatever that means. Fish Tank Frenzy
I dont think Hilary is all that liberal. She is definatly more to the center than most in her party. Id like to see Hillary run in '08. She may even win it. It would be more interesting who the Republicans would choose to run against Hillary. I as a registered Democrat would vote for Hillary in a primary if were held today.

Hotcorner
I think we'll elect a black president before a woman is elected. I have no idea what that means, but there it is. Hillary's such a polarizing figure, a lot of people on the left admire her, and she's definitely done some things to appear more moderate, I'm just not sure whether any of the people who loath her will come around. And that includes some people on the left as well as the right. I do think she'd handle herself better in a campaign than the last two guys. She's become a pretty savvy politician. So I don't think she'd be the worst choice.... however I still hope the Dems can come up with someone better.

PhishPhan
...recent poll had 53% of people saying they would like to see her run, whatever that means. 710586[/snapback] Did they poll all people or just Dems? You know, the Republicans might want her to run figuiring it would be an automatic loss. And if they only picked Dems, the democrats are looking at the fact there is no one else that sticks out at the current time. Obama? Please. Hillary, meh. I'd have to seriously consider the other Bush first, if he decides to run even though he said he won't. I have always believed the first woman/minority veep or president will be republican. Just because democrats get the minority/women vote already, they will more than likely lose votes, or just have a big backlash of mobolizing the southern votes for Republicans all the more if they run a minority or woman. Republicans would have a chance to gain votes over from moderate Dems.

Flying_Mollusk
My choice has and still is Mark Warner. The guy is not a politician. He is really legit. He stands up for a lot of democratic principles but also has a massive reputation as being a guy who can reach across the aisle, just like Bush supposedly had in Texas. He is a fiscal conservative which might play a role in 08 if the defecit doesnt go down. His only problem could be he talks pretty fast and may lack charisma. Das Texan
i dont want hillary running. she would never win and that would just put the republicans in office for 4 more years. she has gotten a lot better recently, but her reputation nationally still precedes her. she would get destroyed in a national election. A big part of why I say that is because I know Virginia is a state made of two different sections. Northern Virginia and teh rest of the state are pretty dissimiliar arent they? I'm a Republican and I'd like to see her run, because I think she'd be easier to beat that almost anyone else the Democrats could throw out there, assuming the Republicans don't do something stupid and go with a Bob Dole-like guy. Personally I'd s*** my pants if it was Condi-Hillary, I think that would be amazing.

I came out to visit there a while back and I got a different perspective. It seemed more a traditonalist value type of area. But you would know better than me. The problem with Guliani might be how the social conservatives view him. He is socially moderate to liberal. How he deals with abortion, guns and gays might cost him. Dodge
Yes, I work at W&M. William and Mary is an oasis of liberalism amidst a pretty evenly mixed suburban area known as Williamsburg. The precinct I worked in during the last election was very liberal and it was about 2 minutes from the college. The Hampton Roads Area (Newport News, Norfolk, VA Beach, Hampton) are liberal. And that is a good chunk of Virginia's population.
