March 19, 2005

today was just another day. you know i checked the grapefruit league standings and we're in last. not too good, eh ? but it's spring, so maybe once the season starts and the regulars are all in the lineup, things will change.

i've never really experienced it first hand on someone getting booed and called out as bad as i did today. delgado was hitting 4th in the lineup. of course i realized why they were booing him - since he was also negotiating with the mets before he signed with the off-season. i felt a little sorry for the fella too. but to each his own, i'm sure he has his own reasons (not just money) for signing with the fish. the fans were so happy when he made an out too, you'd think the mets just won the world series.

d-train got a little d-railed today, but it's no biggie. he gave up 2 homeruns - one to big cat (that's Galarraga for those of you who don't know) and another to david wright. i missed the other runs since i had my back to the field down in the bullpen. we had a few opportunities to score, but things fell apart and that opportunity faded quickly.

i was sure to hit a homerun had i gotten the chance to pinch hit in the game - that's if you had seen my batting practice. well i got my at-bat, and hit a weak groundball to second base. so, no homerun for me. haha. my nerves got the best of me once again, but i'm learning to control them better and better each day i spend up here and each time i step on the field during a game. i actually have gotten rid of the "yips" for the most part that i mentioned in one of my earlier entries. now i just pretend that the pitcher is just throwing a bullpen, yet this time it's on the field. it's mind over matter in this game - a strong one will make you, a weak one will break you.

so, after the game was over, some of us showered, some of us waited to get back to jupiter before showering - it's only a 40 minute bus ride, if that. and like most of the road trips, we had pizza for a post-game meal. not my thing if you ask me. there's 2 things i don't like - pizza and sodas. sodas just aren't good for you, and pizza, well, it isn't either, but after rookie ball you get burnt out on it.

also, met some other readers today. they never told me their board name, just that they liked my journals. thanks again guys.

Great Journal Jorgy.

You dont like pizza? Thats one of my favorite things to eat. I guess if I ate pizza everyday I would get tired of it too. I agree soda's are pretty bad for ya...but I love Root Beer. I am mostly a water girl :lol

I wonder who you met today, you will probably find out soon

See ya tomorrow :thumbup

see jorg. after a while the awe wears off and you just settle in and play baseball.

you've been doing it your entire life, just treat it that way. granted its a huge opportunity, but as more and more get cut down you remain dood. keep it up. remember you are the best defensive catcher in the system and thats generally considered the most important part of catching along with the calling of the game for the pitchers.

hard work dood...it always pays off.

jorg would rather have a beer over a soda ;)
