Only 10,000 tonight :( . I guess the bandwagon fans were gone tonight and also no Cub fans to buy tickets. There is something wrong when you have a contending team and only get 10K.

It's a Monday night still. Going to get smaller crowds on a work night.

I don't care what day it is or what time no excuse to get only 10,000 with the way we are playing. Teams who have nothing to play for get a lot more than 10K on any given day. It's pretty sad when the state of Hawaii could get more than 10K on a monday night.

Does anyone know where I could find the list of total attendance for all the teams this year.

Admin, I'm not trying to be negative here but 10,000 is still bad for A Monday Night. It's not like Beckett is a hack either, it should have been higher.

Oh, no doubt. I agree 100%, I was just trying to say that played a major role.

it's the Expos....

No excuse, Other teams with losing records draw more against The Spo's.

People are not going to like this but...

If The Marlins want to move out of the cellar in Attendance they need to draw intrest for them not the teams their playing.

The Marlins are on the way up but they need to make people want to go no matter who is playing.

I think one reason for this is the fact that we dropped two straight before winning tonight, and alot of people went down to the Pro yesterday to see the Marlins get blown away by the Cubs. They also witnessed Willis' first loss since May. I'm starting to get the feeling that the fans have some kind of morale system. It's kind of weird, but they stay away after a loss or two. The fact that we're playing the Expos until Wednesday probably didn't help. Just a theory.

I figured we'd drop in attendance tonight, but a drop of 15,000? Wow. Didn't expect that.

Reasons why attendance was low tonight (in no particular order).

1) Expos

2) Almost everyone who is a baseball fan in S FLA went and spent some money at the park this weekend and decided not to go back right away.

3) Monday night

4) Two stright frustrating losses

5) It was raining since around 3 PM and didn't stop until game time really.

it was also raining earlier

I went to the game this saturday........And to tell you guys the truth,i loved it. It's been a while since we've had such a big crowd at the pro. Its amazing how the atmosphere of a baseball game changes with the amount of fans there is. It would seriously be incredible if we can get crowds like that almost everygame. Im still hoping for the sell-out to come...but i have a feeling its gona happen.

i agree with Rune... it doesnt matter if we playing the Tigers... we should get more than 10k , 1st- way we playing... 2nd- we doing good , and no it wasnt raining around the staduim from 3 till game time cuz i was 1 block away from the staduim from like 4 till like 6 ( in gym)

It may not have been raining at the stadium, but it was in many other parts of Broward and Palm Beach today.

oh ok ...

A lot of people from this board went to a Cubs game or two. I went to two.

I bet just about no one here went tonight. I didn't.

So, if I'm right, maybe y'all can ask yourselves why these things are the way they are...

I didn't go because:

1) It's Monday, and I was just freaking tired. I don't sleep well Sunday nights.

2) Yeah, I went yesterday, and it was just depressing.

3) Those were some pretty ugly skies around SoFla this afternoon, and after getting wallopped by the largest raindrops I've ever seen yesterday, I decided it was best to watch this one on my couch.

4) This game just didn't have that event status that the Cubs games did...for whatever reason.

10,000 is about what I'd have expected.

Also, the Marlins' quality of play seems to be inversely proportional to the size of the crowd, so I don't see why anyone's complaining. A home crowd of 30,000+ virtually guarantees a loss...

Don't remind me--opening day. I left when we were losing 8-0!

Attendence wasn't helped by the fact that Crotchety Old Goldberg spent two and a half hours this afternoon on QAM talking about the bad weather in northwest Dade and whether or not the game would be played at all.

No, that's not the case. The problem is that when there are too many people (and for the Marlins 30,000 is a lot of people) one simple loss is magnified by the fans who want to be excited about the way we are playing, go to the stadium asking for a reason to keep coming, and if the Marlins lose the game then they are convinced that it was a fluke. That is why I am afraid every time I see home crowds of 30,000 plus, because I know the type of fans in Miami. And I am talking in general here. Other teams, whether they win or not, keep drawing 20,000 average everyday. People in South Florida want to be given a reason to stay and keep going to the games. They hear the team is playing good, so they go. The teams wins, it's for real. It loses a couple of stupid games, oh... well it was not meant to be... and back to watch the Sopranos... That is why they seem to lose every time they draw 30,000 plus, because people still don't believe they can win and use that as an excuse. I haven't been able to go to the games with the same frequency I did ever since I came to Tallahassee almost 3 years ago to complete my Masters, but if I was down in Miami, I would be going to most of the games. I know it is not nice to lose, this coming from a guy who went to watch the 1998, 1999, and 2000 teams almost regularly. I just hope that people in Miami would just go to the game because they enjoy watching baseball. Look at the attendance records: Cincinnati, Baltimore and the Mets are in the 11, 12, and 13 places in attendance. Now tell me, would you rather go see the Marlins or the Mets? Guess what, there are more people in New York, considering all the types of entertainemnt you have available in that city, that go to see the Mets, who simply stink, than people in Miami going to see the Marlins, who have a reason to contend. Now draw your own conclusions.

The weather doesn't help. Most of the people who went already had ticket in advance and others stay away because of the weather.

Or that in the Cubs vs. Marlins games, the average 30,000 per game, about 35% were Fish fans or just about 10,500. One of the reasons people cheered "Kerry" after Kerry Wood struck out a fish.

they may go in as Cubs or whatever fans, but if the Fish are winning late, they show their true colors then

My .02

This is what's frustrating,

30,000+ Fans = Marlins Lose

15,000- Fans = Marlins Win

WTF? Are they intimidated with big crowds?
