Denny Bautista? it appears he ready to make some noise

Best start of the first week might have come from young Royals right-hander Denny Bautista, who began his career in the Marlins organization. Bautista mowed down the Angels on Friday for his first career victory. He didn't run a three-ball count until the seventh, struck out Vladimir Guerrero twice and allowed just three hits in eight innings. Said Royals manager Tony Pena: "I wouldn't be surprised if this kid goes out and wins Rookie of the Year. He's got the stuff to do it."

from Berardino Sunday column

I'm sure the Orioles are glad they were able to get Jason Grimsley for him. That Grimsley is a real stud who is going to really put up some great numbers over the next 15 years or so.

Anyways I hope he does well because the Royals gave up A LOT to get him.

I have no clue what the O's were thinking

They don't need pitching.

so how many danny bautista's have we had...

only one and he recently retired.

this is denny bautista who was once a top rated prospect in our system, and we traded him to get Conine.

After Bautista was traded by the Marlins he lost a bit of his luster when it was discovered he was older than purported. Reportedly the Orioles discovered something wrong in his psychological profile and shipped him off. Of course that was just after he was called up the day he was to start a game at AA Bowie to start in the majors that evening. He had as much success as Logan Kensing did. The Orioles have a history of badmouthing former employees and PR tactics to cover their so-called 'mistakes'. Good to see Denny smashing those myths while back in the bigs and helping the Royals.

I am sure most people on here who aren't 12 year old girls remember who he is. ;)

He's talking about Denny Bautista, not Danny Bautista who was with us in 97.

Ya I remember him getting rocked by the Yankees(I think) then getting traded. Stupid move no matter what for the O's but maybe something happened in the locker room that we don't know about.
