ToadLicker
Through 8, allows only one run and only a single out via fly ball - everything else was K or gnd out. Only one BB too. OK, the Pads been sucking bad this year, but Brandon Webb?!?! If Webb and Fossum had pitched like this last year, the dbacks wouldn't have sucked nearly as bad as they did. PhishPhan
You make it sound like Webb sucked last year. He had a 3.59 ERA, averaged about 7ks per 9. Mind you last year was his first full year in the majors, second overall. But did have a 7-16 record. Is that his fault though? Beckett had a 3.79 ERA, and about 9Ks per 9. And went 9-9. Willis, in his first full year, and second year over all as well, posted a 4.02 ERA and about a 6k/per 9 average and a 10-11 record. AJ had a 3.68 ERA, about 8Ks per 9 and went 7-6. So to hint that Webb stunk last year is silly, since he had a better ERA and comparable strikeout ratios than our 3 "horses". Imagine if one of these guys last year acted like an "ace". :plain To think a second year guy should carry a team on his back and have posted numbers like he has so far this year all of last year for a horrible team, I think that is a bit of a stretch. He showed last year he could be an ace, because when you put up pretty good numbers like he did last year for a horrible team, it shows that you know what you are doing. Our three horses were at least playing for something last year and Webb was playing for nothing and he did better. What does that say about our 3 horses? FutureGM
Webb has never had an ERA above 4 in a season.
Iowa
Webb has never had an ERA above 4 in a season. 753197 You say that like he's been in the league for 10 years
Ramp
Brandon Webb is real good... if only he(and Randy Johnson) got any run support last year

rferry
Like a Livan Hernandez-type ace?
flasportsfan88
Bank1 is a pitcher's park as well. 753256 Sorta, its spacious out to center but very small to the corners, so it basically evens out, Ive heard it called a Hitters park more often than Pitchers... PhxPhin
yep .. the BOB can go either way ... i've seen a lot of shots float out along the lines though webb is a very good pitcher .. maybe never a staff ace, but very much a solid #2 guy last year he had no run support and no defense (need defense when you are a sinkerball pitcher, lots of ground balls) the kid has great placement and is tough to rattle and rough up he got a bad rap last year .. everyone talked about how bad he was, sophmore slump, etc when he was posting some good indidual stats w/no help

What does that say about our 3 horses? 753196 Debby Downer, you omitted to mention that two of our "horses" were on the disabled list a significant amount of time last season and AJ was coming back from TJ surgery. We all know AJ and Josh are better than their numbers from last year, and they're much more talented than Webb. As for Willis, he had his sophomore slump, but I think he's more talented than Webb. You have to take into consideration that Willis is younger than Webb by two years, which is significant when you consider how young Willis is. Sorry for the mix-up.
