Hey Joe, I hope you are doing well. I love reading your Q/A

pieces, they are great! Anyway my question:

Many fans who I talk to are upset at the Marlins inconsistent offense,

and I am too. However, many of those fans that I talk to feel that what

the Marlins need is a change of hitting coach, thus they feel the

organization should fire Bill Robinson. I do not support that thinking.

What do you think about the Marlins getting a new hiting coach? And how

much of a factor does a hitting coach have on a team's offense?

Hitting coaches are convenient scapegoats. The players respect Bill

Robinson, and frankly the organization doesn't have anyone with his

experience. If you promote a minor league hitting coordinator, with no big

league experience, you think Carlos Delgado will listen? Bill Robinson has

been a .300 hitter as a player, he's been on World Series teams. Players

listen to him. It's very true that the offense has been inconsistent.

Scoring one run on Sunday against Brandon Claussen at home is a problem. You

could see every now and then this happening, but Aaron Heilman baffled them

on one hit not too long ago. Great hitting teams don't have that happen. I

can't blame Robby for Mike Lowell hitting under .180. This team should be

eight games over .500 with the pitching they've received. To be a

championship team, some guys have to pick it up. Lowell's slump is baffling

since he also didn't hit in the spring.

Bout time Bill Robinson starts getting flak and people are beginning to recognize that he needs to go. While we have nobody else in the system that is qualified for the job, there's no reason we can't go out and find someone with better qualifications than Bill Robinson. Jack brought in Mark Wiley who wasn't with the Marlins at all last year, so why can't the same be done for a hitting coach?

The point brought up by Frisaro is ridiculous. Just because there is no one in our organization who would make a good hitting coach that the players would respect means we can't do anything  .

That was a question posed to Joe Frisaro, who answered in his I-don't-know-a-damn-thing-but-let-me-spout-some-nonsense style.

Why don't we pick up the hitting coach for Toronto? Didn't they just fire him the other day?

So I guess Robby takes the blame for the team when they lose and the players get the credit for when they win?

I guess Enc gets the credit for his early season improvemnet and Robby takes the hit for Lowell's recent struggles.

These attacks on BillRobinson are getting old.

btw, Bill Robinson sucks

9-3 with 6 straight hits from the Fish

The Rockies pitching also gave up a costly double to Beckett.

If Robinson is imune from blame when we're struggling, he has to at least share credit for tonight with the Rox' pitching...

Quiet TSwift, only blame is allowed here! Robinson has nothing to do with good hitting. Only bad hitting. :whistle

So that's how it goes... :plain

...at COORS FIELD.

Not to mention this was just one game.

Bill Robinson is not responsible for any one particular game or any one particular AB, he is responsible for our offensive being so ridiculously inconsistent.

on another note, was he on speed when he wrote his response?

:lol

Hes also responsible for helping enc be more patient at the plate, and with helping delgado realize that he needs to hit oppo more often. This is the usual bulls***, robinson isnt responsible for the team being inconsistent, how can he be? If you say that then he is also responsible for all these 8-9 run games, which makes hima good coach then. By the way people always critcize Mckeon, but yesterday for example he helped the team won, b/c his decisions paid off, like the one to leave beckett in to hit (even if it was a botched squeeze play). Its the nature of the game, some decisions work out and others dont. but if your a person that blames the manager for losing games then you also need to 'blame' him for winning some.

I don't blame Bill Robinson because there's not much he (or anyone else) can do. There's no mechanical flaw in anyone's swing so it's not like he's being inept to a problem. Not swinging a bat consistantly is something that players need to deal with. Look no further than Andruw Jones.

and we are not even a month into the season. give the offense a chance to start rolling along. i'd rather see it hit its stride with all gears churning sometime in august/september than now anyway.

most teams are going to be inconsistent in april, its kinda how the long marathon goes.

Yeah, but it seems as though we're just picking up where we left off last season.

We're not the Orioles even with Delgado. I think we need to give it till June/July before we can make any assesments of the team.
