May 5, 200521 yr Karsay > Reidling 763894 Karsay has pitched all of 12 innings since 2002, not sure how you came to that assumption. 763900 He just has better stuff. When healthy, he will defiently pile up the K's. I would love to get him but only if he's healthy. I like Reidling but he hasn't piched well in a really long time.
May 5, 200521 yr I read the Yanks want Enc for Karsay and they are willing to eat most of his salary. 763903 Do the Yanks think we are retarded? When we do end up trading Enc we should ask for some pitching prospects or reliever. 763907 Pitching prospects??? That's our deepest position in the minors. 763917 We don't need pitching. Maybe OF's. Our prospects are improving.
May 5, 200521 yr We don't need his injury-prone, $4 million ass on our team. I'd rather have a minor leaguer.* *except Travis Smith 763991 We should call up Messenger.

May 5, 200521 yr Karsay hasn't gotten a fair shake in NY IMO. Torre doesn't pitch the guy so he can't prove himself. The way our bullpen is, we can always use more help so I'm all for it, especially as it seems Yanks are willing to eat his salary and take a six pack of Miller High Life in return.
May 5, 200521 yr Don't you think if Messenger were ready he would have been called up already? Obviously the scouting/FO reports on the guy suggests he needs more work at AAA before making his anticipated ML appearance.

The Yanks will take just about anyone because otherwise they're gonna release him and get nothing. I don't see a problem with us giving up some guy who is going no where for Karsay. It's a win-win situation.
May 5, 200521 yr I'm wondering how Chad Bentz is doing and how far away he is from returning to the Mudcats. He pitched some pretty good ball in spring training and I was disappointed when I heard he had injured his forearm. I'd love to see the guy get well and be ready to contribute for the Marlins rather than pinning our hopes on a guy like Karsay.

I'll take who ever is throwing the best, but I don't think it's totally fair to compare Bentz and Karsay, given the shape of our bullpen.
May 6, 200521 yr Don't you think if Messenger were ready he would have been called up already? Obviously the scouting/FO reports on the guy suggests he needs more work at AAA before making his anticipated ML appearance. 764118 The knock on Messenger has been he lacks a second quality pitch. Pitching prospects??? That's our deepest position in the minors. 763917 We don't need pitching. Maybe OF's. Our prospects are improving. 764034 Yeah, they are. The 2004 draft helped a whole damn lot. I think we're pretty set with outfielders. The middle of the field needs some attention. Very few infielders capable of providing long-term solutions. And aside from Reed and the 26yo Aguila, the centerfielders in the system look more at ease on a football field or basketball court than at the plate.
May 6, 200521 yr Yep, its probably time for a last place team like the Yankees to trade away veterans to start rebuilding. :mischief
May 6, 200521 yr Bentz had a 9.82 ERA in spring training.... 764217 Spring Training stats are useless. I don't know why anyone would be against bringing Karsay considering he'd be paid for and we'd probably have to give up a nobody.
