Marlins after Karsay

i'll have to take a no thanks on this one

riedling coming back will be enough to finish plugging up the hole left by mota, i hope

May. 4 - With Guillermo Mota and Antonio Alfonseca on the shelf, the Marlins are evaluating some bullpen options, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. One possibility is veteran right-hander Steve Karsay, whom the Yankees designated for assignment Monday. The Yanks have 10 days to trade him, release him or outright him to the minors.

Depending on the quality of the minor-leaguer they receive in return, the Yankees would be willing to swallow the bulk of the remaining $4.2 million Karsay, 33, is due plus the buyout. The Marlins don't have much payroll flexibility. If they are unwilling to give up a player, they could sit tight and hope the Yankees release Karsay.

Unless we get him cheap (Read: Free)

Karsay > Reidling

Karsay has pitched all of 12 innings since 2002, not sure how you came to that assumption.

I can see why the Marlins would be tempted into trading for him, but the only teams I've heard that have interest in him are the Rockies and Mets, and if we have to convince him away from either of those clubs, it's sad.

PS: Just noticed that he was born in N.Y., so maybe the Mets have an inside track, but is it that big of a deal? Might as well save the trade pieces for a run at Baez/Dotel/Urbina, since it seems we're actively trying to upgrade the 'pen.

I read the Yanks want Enc for Karsay and they are willing to eat most of his salary.

Do the Yanks think we are retarded?

When we do end up trading Enc we should ask for some pitching prospects or reliever.

Funny how times change. Last year, most thought we couldn't get a dollar for him.

Pitching prospects??? That's our deepest position in the minors.

where did you read this and where do I sign?

Bergen Record

While the Bombers are battling it out with the Devil Rays for the right not to be called the division's worst team, there are plenty of theories about the short-term future. The most popular scenario has the Yankees trading for a big-name center fielder by the July 31 deadline, with Ken Griffey Jr. as the most likely candidate. The other possibilities are Mike Cameron (even though the Mets insist he's not being shopped) and lesser names such as Richard Hidalgo and Juan Encarnacion.

thanks

We don't need his injury-prone, $4 million ass on our team. I'd rather have a minor leaguer.*

*except Travis Smith

wtf....y would u trade enc NOW that he's playing good???f*** the yankees they can get their ass kicked i wouldn't care...but don't trade ency for a cheap as reliever...especially as maverick put it he's pitched only 12 inning since 2002....and u don't want to give ency for that cheap reliever.....dumb trade if it happens... :confused
