Marlins Trade Rumors in Print

Featured Replies

Mondesi comes relatively cheap since the Blue Jays are paying over half his salary already. We'd only be in for about 3mil. Not to shabby if he starts hitting the ball.

If something does happen, I think it will be right around the deadline. I think all these rumors are not going to happen and if something does, it will be something we least expected. That is usually how these things work. The Yankees are asking too much for Mondesi and I am sure the Reds were asking too much for Guillen. At this point, that is what they are supposed to do. You wait until the last minute to make a deal, and try and drum up the best deal possible. You have to start high and bid down - that is why I think we cant necessarily rule out Giles or even Klesko. I dont know if we will get them, but we could very well make a significant move like that. I dont want to see us take on White or Sanders and send Cabrera down though. If we are going to waste the time in making a trade, at least make it a significant upgrade - and that is what is dragging this thing on I believe. Besides, some of these teams have to just face they are sellers and not buyers. We are buyers, for the first time in 5 years... :w00t

Perhaps, but my feeling is that we are VERY close to getting Rondell White.

Like I said, I think a deal is already in place. Beinfest wants to see how well Miguel Cabrera can hit the great Arizona pitching. If he hits well in the series, he'll remain in LF. if he struggles against their good pitching, the trade in place will have the trigger pulled.

So far, it appears that the following players have actually been rumored in print to be a target by the Marlins, as opposed to trades that people want to happen:

Rondell White (LF, Padres)

Raul Mondesi (OF, Yankees)

Reggie Sanders (OF, Pirates)

Jeff Conine (OF/1B, Orioles)

David Weathers (RP, Mets)

If I missed some REAL trade rumors in print, let me know.

it only Raul , Rondell and Reggie were not even talkin to the O's or the mets.

I think you hit the bullseye on that one. :thumbup

Wild Card I never said the Marlins were lookin into trading for Leiter. I said me and friend got to talkin about former Marlins coming back. I thought he was talking about Conine but he meant Leiter. I said that would be something....nothing more. It would be nice but he's making bigtime $$$ fro a couple of years. As for trade the phones are heating up.

My mistake...

But good to hear OUR phones are heating up, instead of us calling others...
