June 5, 200521 yr I'm sorry but this is just absurd, why Jack continues to bring Perishit into late game clutch situations is beyond me. He blows the game EVERY TIME but Jack keeps going to him. We all know the type of pitcher he is, we all know that he can't throw a strike to save his life, we all know that he's blown a countless number of games in a manner identical to the one tonight, yet Jack still goes to him.
June 5, 200521 yr Jack can't help the 'lefty specialist' can't get lefties out. I doubt he will have worry about that for much longer though. There is no way Perisho should stay with this team.
June 5, 200521 yr I'm totally with you man. Perisho is an absolute joke, ditto for Bump. Get them off the team NOW.
June 5, 200521 yr It's not Jack's fault. Perisho usually gets lefties out, and we have him on our team specificially to face lefties in those type of situations. It made sense for Jack to bring him in. It's not his fault.

If he wouldn't have success against lefties then he wouldn't be on our team or in the MLB.

June 5, 200521 yr Perisho doesn't usually get lefties out. Lefties OBP against Perisho this year is .500 after that home run. I bet Jack has no idea of that stat however. I don't care about the strategy though. That really isn't what makes or breaks a good manager. This loss is on Jack because he can't get the team out of the doldrums. He had a closed door meeting and they still came out and played listless, uninspired baseball. Jack is the best there is at turning around other teams - I don't know if he can turn around his own team.

June 5, 200521 yr Who can Jack use? Here is our bullpen (those in bold were used): Bump Jones Mecir Mota Perisho Riedling Smith Don't blame Jack, Blame the players. Admin Beinfest needs to go out there and get people who can close out games.

June 5, 200521 yr Big problem is our staff is afraid of having people hit them and walking people. Walks are putting the spike in these games. The defensive woes haven't helped, but you need to stop walking and hitting batters.

And since I ALWAYS post stats, I'm sure that before was a stat, and I'm sure this post as well has a stat included.
June 5, 200521 yr Fast facts on Marlins' favorite reliever Matt Perisho VsL in 2005 .320 Average .486 OBP .480 SLG 2.43 WHIP 9 BB 4 2B 5 RBI All this in 25 at bats Oh btw, this is all not including the 2-2 with a 3R he allowed today against lefties.

He's not the only one not playing like he did last year. Lowell has been slumping the whole season. JP is in a little slump and has his BA way under .300 .... If we would get rid of everyone when they were doing bad then we'd get rid of the whole team at one point.

June 5, 200521 yr too bad in baseball if you are to be a successful lefty specialist you need to have a success rate of 75-80% at least. 797125 He had that last year... 797150 No he didn't. OBP by lefites last year against Perisho was .317. For a lefty specialist, that's about average. And last year was a career year for him, when he surged to mediocrity. He's back to being what he always was, a bad pitcher that couldn't stick on some poor pitching staffs with Detroit and Texas.
