June 5, 200521 yr More importantly, why was Reidling given an expanded role? He has stunk. Arguably our 5th best pitcher in the 'pen, and he's getting #2 guy type work. 797377 Riedling seems to have an "in" with someone especially the reporters. Have you noticed how he's always quoted in the paper like he's been here forever? Also he wants everyone to know he has the inside scoop on Graves.
June 5, 200521 yr Author If Perisho isn't sent down immediately after tonights game, something is very wrong. 797196 I don't think he'll be sent down. Jack could have sent down Lowell this season because he was slumping but he didn't. And now that Perisho is pitching bad, by his moves in the past, he probably won't. 797214 LOL, don't ever compare Matt Perishit to Mike Lowell.
June 5, 200521 yr Author slumping is a part of baseball...nothing you can do about it. i love how you guys always try to blame losses on one man. it's crazy. if nobody can hit you are going to lose. 797381 Matt Perishit is not in a slump, he is just plain bad. Always has been, always will be.
June 5, 200521 yr It's a team sport you can't just blame Perisho for us losing. Everybody is at fault the players, Manager, and Coaches. We are not playing good baseball at all right now.

Mike Lowshit hasn't bene hitting and Matt Perisho hasn't been pitching.
June 6, 200521 yr ferry: Arguably our 5th best reliever getting 2nd type of work.... Jones cant go two days in a row Mecir cant go two days in a row So Rank them: Bump Smith Mota Perisho Reidling
June 6, 200521 yr I'm talking fantasy (aka venting frustration with ridiculous ranting) but what the hey-- Time for damage control while the whole division is within a game or 2 of each other... Time to clean house, Marlins...if a player sucks: dump him, demote him, play him in "AAA" while those *cough cough* "injuries" heal up...Bullpen and offense need an overhaul...scoring 3 runs a game while the bullpen gives up 3 or more runs an inning isn't gonna cut it... 'nuff said...
June 6, 200521 yr Well they're quit comparable this year. Mike Lowshit hasn't bene hitting and Matt Perisho hasn't been pitching. 797436 Switch 'em...Perisho at 3B and Lowell in relief... :whistle
June 6, 200521 yr Jones went 4 days once and would volunteer to pitch 15 days in a row if it meant keeping the closer job. That you even mention that in the same breath as Mecir's physical condition shows your sincerity in debating the facts whenever Jack is involved. Sunday, top of the 8th, game tied, bases empty? Mota Bump Perisho - tie Reidling - tie Smith That's if Jones wasn't going to come in when the game truly need to be saved. Mecir had already been used, but he'd rank ahead of Reidling.

June 6, 200521 yr Did you know Jones situation? Didn't think so nor do you really believe this would affect his closer's role. (who else?) Mota at the top of the list is an indicative of your "fans" opinion, although he should be there when he is right. An asterisk would work (* when healthy) Reidling has the next best stuff, followed by Bump and the rest. Regardless, I enjoy reading the (ir)rational post and there knowledge from the seats.

One more thing, good managers think 1 batter, 1 inning, 2 innings ahead and work out different scenarios. McKeon uses information from all coaches to determine moves with the idea that each move is successful (depends on player). With Guillen on the bench, dont think the match up with Perisho was better vs Church than Guillen vs ? Just happens that we have not executed. Regardless, I enjoy reading the (ir)rational post and their knowledge from the seats.
June 6, 200521 yr Yet with the game close, he calls on Travis Smith and Matt Perisho to warm up. Unless the situation was a mop-up duty, or somehow every other pitcher in the 'pen had come down with illness, I'd hardly say that was a good move by a manager. (Not that Jack isn't a good manager.) Reidling has good stuff and I liked the signing, but in that situation he's far from the best option. He hasn't pitched well all year, and had pitched the tw previous nights. Middle of the order, sluggers coming up, you don't want a flyball pitcher who has been off his game. P.S. Perhaps a double asterisk for 'when McKeon stops holding the grudge'?

I would have brought Mota in the 8th. He had something to prove after the ass chewing last night...and if he got in trouble bring in Jones. Jones could have thrown 2 innings if needed as he hasn't pitched in a few days and tomorrow is an off day.
June 6, 200521 yr The other point is the team was desperate for a win, and Jack should have used his strongest options. He was making choices as if we were sitting on a 3 run lead.
