POLANCO-URBINA TRADE

Featured Replies

According to rotoworld.com the Tigers received Placido Polanco and Ramon Martinez.

They (the phils) overpaid in my opinion.

Considering Ramon was on the Tigers, I dont think that happened.

Solid pickup for Phils

Urbina trade for Phils > Mets picking up Graves

No doubt, but they also have to give up a lot more. This will makes the games against the Phillies that much tougher

it's time for the fish to make some real moves if were gonna stay in the hunt, i know it's early but i rather be on top now

I don't know why everyone thinks the Phils overpaid. IMO, Utley Bell & Urbina is much more valuable of a trio than a Utley Bell Polanco platoon.

Urbina has been lights out lately, and the Phillies bullpen has struggled to get a lead to Wagner for the 9th. With Urbina now in the fold, the Phillies now have a scary good relief core. I guess the one good thing is that they now have dealt their strongest trade chip, meaning the likelihood of them adding a front line starter (which is unquestionably what I think they need more than anything) is dimming.

Each team traded players on one-year contracts and stuck in roles they was not comfortable with. Not much leverage.

It's just Polanco's a good everyday player, and Urbina's now the 3rd-best option in the Phillies' pen. The Phillies might have been better off keeping Polanco at 2B and moving the defensively-challenged Utley to 3B, and sending Bell elsewhere if that was possible.

Urbina was acquired to be the Phillie's new set-up man.

Damn it...this is a great trade for the Phillies. Madson, Urbina, and Wagner 7th-9th = game over.

Urbina is no longer lights out.

Very inconsistent...though the potential for "lights out" is still there...he had converted 8 of his last 8 didn't give up a run almost that whole stretch.
