CyggyMarlin
Comcast Philly just had a press conference to announce that the Phillies have traded Placido Polanco to the Tigers for Ugueth Urbina...details are still sketchy at this time whether other players are involved
Ramp
it took a few years, but the Phils came to their senses Utley can start!....

WildMarlinMan2003
Damn it...this is a great trade for the Phillies. Madson, Urbina, and Wagner 7th-9th = game over.
CyggyMarlin
OK, Marlins, time to wheel and deal...if other NL East teams are making moves now, it's time....

Passion
Ramon Martinez is in the deal as well. Makes sense for both teams. Farnsworth is a great set-up man and Percival is starting to look great, plus the Tigers were getting poor production from 2B and polanco is having a good year. knglover
According to rotoworld.com the Tigers received Placido Polanco and Ramon Martinez. They (the phils) overpaid in my opinion. www.rotoworld.com

rferry
Polanco is a hell of a player. The Tigers should be very glad to have him. Urbina is Braden Looper.

CyggyMarlin
I would take Polanco in the Marlins line-up if possible..good pesky hitter
Mark
I'm still a little shocked, seeing as I felt the Tigers could get more. Polanco is a great player and the infield will be better off with him there than Omar Infante. Fernando Rodney is coming off the DL soon as well, so they needed to make the move now to clear up bullpen space I guess. Trammell probably told Ugie he was not going to be closing with the return of Percival...Ugie probably got mad, thus triggering todays trade. It was bound to happen sometime. I sure hope there is a PTBNL.

CyggyMarlin
Don't sell the Tigers short...Watching a lot of Phillies games around here in PA, I have seen Polanco be a clutch hitter and make the plays defensively when they needed him to..he may not be a superstar, but he is a very solid player
Mark
"The price was high, but to be able to get a proven bullpen arm who has pitched at a championship level, it was too good to pass up," Phillies general manager Ed Wade said, adding that Tigers president Dave Dombrowski told him he was close to moving Urbina to another team in the NL East. :mischief2 Braves? Mets?
Mark
Polanco has only struck out 9 times this season. Pretty good OBP. Definitely an upgrade at 2B.

CyggyMarlin
I am a bit surprised at Phillies tho...I'd play Polanco over Bell at third anyday...Polanco and Utley playing> Bell and Utley playing...May be it is a good thing for the Fish, I think the Phillies have slightly weakened their lineup
Hanleylicious
Good that he's out of the NL East, always seemed to hurt the Marlins with his bat. Than again i'm not to keen on Uggy coming back into the division either...
