June 9, 200521 yr Last year we had Mordi as our emergency catcher. If the situation arises this year, who would we have to have squat behind the plate?
June 9, 200521 yr Let's worry about getting our second catcher in the game first. Harris and Willis have volunteered. As I'm sure others would if the situation ever arise.
June 9, 200521 yr Lenny Harris. From Spring Training: http://www.rstn.tv/NASApp/mlb/fla/news/fla...5news&fext=.jsp In the past, McKeon has referred to Harris as a secret weapon, one who has a tendency of rallying teams when given the chance. Harris can play third base, first base and a corner outfield spot. If needed, he also could be an emergency catcher. and from 2004: Harris emergency catcher: While Mordecai is the emergency third-string catcher, 39-year-old Lenny Harris is another option. Harris volunteered to catch if Mordecai needed a break. "Yeah, I've caught before," Harris said. "I've caught a lot of Spring Training games. You do what you've got to do." http://www.rstn.tv/NASApp/mlb/fla/news/fla...s_fla&fext=.jsp
June 9, 200521 yr Delgado was a catcher all his life and came up with the Jays as a catcher until they moved him to DH and then 1B once John Olerud left. If we need an emergency catcher, Delgado is our man.

The Sports Authority has a bunch of them in stock.
June 9, 200521 yr a left handed throwing catcher? i dont think they even make catchers mitts for the right hand :lol 802505 You see them sometimes in middle/highschool games. At that level, with wild and slow pitchers on the mound and speed on the bases, you'll often see a coach put one of his best athletes at the position.
June 9, 200521 yr Author regardless, i wouldnt put one of our pitchers behind the plate ever...id throw JP in there before anyone in the rotation (besides leiter, haha) im sure jack had no plans of ever putting dontrlle in at catcher anyway, probably laughed when he volunteered to be the emergency guy

[/sarcasm]
June 10, 200521 yr yea, Delgado can catch lol just like Sheffield can still play SS 802588 Fat catchers.
June 10, 200521 yr I dont think Mckeon is dumb enough to put Delgado at risk of an injury by putting him to catch.
