in case anybody wants to know, the florida marlins (finally) contacted my cousin Jeff Locke...he is 17(18 in november) and is a southpaw pitcher who can throw a 95 mph fastball, a change up that is about 15 mph less, and a nasty little slurve...other teams that have contacted him are the braves (sigh), the tigers, my hometown but very unlikable red sox, the blue jays and the los angeles angels of anaheim of california of the united states of the world of the universe and so on...so yeah...look out for my cousin...he lives in north conway new hampshire and hopefully within a few years we will get to see him in the teal and black in the new marlins stadium...

did he play in HS?

Sounds like he has quite a bit of talent. Is he just as much of a Marlins fan as you seem to be? :thumbup

yeah...he just broke the wins and strike out records for his high school (kennett High School in North Conway, NH)...another thing that is pretty cool is my uncle gave me his permission to sit in and negoiate his contract when he gets drafted...and he is a marlin fan because i am, loves the way that they play the game with strong pitching, defense and contact hitting...but unfortunately being from new hampshire he is a die hard red sox fan...although with their lack of emphasis on pitching, especially young pitching im hoping they wont touch him so the marlins can get him...ps...isnt it awesome listening to the cubs lose on xm radio...GO FISH!!!

so he wasnt even drafted?

  • Author

he...since he is only 17, the teams cant even legally talk to him yet...but they can talk to both me and my uncle in the mean time...the braves told him already they planned to take him with one of thei top 3 picks in next years draft...so hopefully the fish get him before then...i figure that if the braves draft him i can always try to drive up the price on them...i mean if he signs for more, its less money for them to spend on someone else

so he is going to be a senior in HS?

yeah...come next year...and in november mlb teams can talk to him seriously about drafting him

15 MPH difference between fast and change? That seems a little too much.

A high school senior with a 95mph heater? That kid was born with money growing off his arm.

what were his numbers this year?

got a link anywhere?

i dont have anything right now but when he comes online i can ask him to see if he knows where i can find some of his stats...his change up is very similar to johan santana's...and that isnt even an exageration...i saw him pitch an american leagion game in which he struck out 15, 2 bb, 4 hits, 2 r, 1 er, and 8 1/3 innings pitched...and the hits were bloopers that had eyes...oh...and this game was last summer against competition that was 2-3 years older than him

Why hasn't Maverick heard of him if he has that type of stuff?

  • Author

i dont know...if you have ever been to or heard of North Conway you know how small it is and new hampshire isnt exactly a huge media place...most people track him through small town newspapers or actually go to his games...so if you live in the northeast...try to see one of his american legion games...i cant remember the name of his team but ill post it as soon as i get it

Does he have attitude problems?

If not, develop some. That way he'll slip like Allison did :D

nope, he used to be a little brat and me and my older cousins would beat the crap out of him in wiffleball...and as he grew, so did his talent...he is very humble and has a great knowledge of the history of the game...id complain about him as soon as i find something not too like...ok wait...i got something...im over 5 years older than him and he is taller than me by like 3 inches now...and im 5'10 and 3/4 :)

A Kid at my school was at 92-93 consistantly clocked at 96. Drafted by the Twins.

Kennett 5,

Kearsarge 0

The Cougars (7-8) managed just two hits and twice stranded runners at second and third, spoiling a gutsy outing by starting pitcher Chris Plass.

Plass allowed a two-run homer in the bottom of the first to Jeff Locke (three RBI), then shut the Eagles (10-5) down until the sixth inning, when he tired and allowed three more runs.

"He did an outstanding job into the sixth inning," said Kearsarge Coach Rob Bennett. "We just didn't give him any support."

Overall, Plass allowed seven hits and a walk while striking out five in six innings.

Pat Troy (1-for-2) and Bobby Williams (1-for-3) had the hits for Kearsarge

Is that him?

I was born with that too, but the doctor removed it because it was "unhealthy".

If he is that good, tell him to wait on his pro career and come play at Florida State for three years. Our staff needs all the help it can get. :thumbup
