Buehrle Throws Cubs Under Bus

Featured Replies

I like Buehrle he is a top 1/3 pitcher in MLB but Maddux is a sure fire HOF he earned the right to be a pompous ass to Mark Buehrle especially when Buehrle accuses him of cheating.

He NEVER SAID MADDUX'S NAME.....

ok, accusing someone on the Cubs pitching...if I were on the Cubs pitching staff I would take it personal and think he was talking about me...if you ever played a team sport you should understand that when he accused one he accused all of them, especially when he didnt name the pitcher...calm down...lets see if 20 years from now if anyone other than a White Sox fan remembers who Mark Buehrle is everyone will remember Greg Maddux

We will see about if people remember Buehrle, he has a chance to make them....

That was really a bitch move on Buehrle's part. Why say this? You're having a great year, the White Sox are having a great year, why do they always need to worry about the Cubs? And what makes it a bitch move is he doesn't even say a name. If you're going to make serious allegations like that, don't beat around the bush, say the name and come with some evidence... don't take the bitch move by dancing around the subject when it didn't even have to be brought up in the first place. With the way the quote sounded, he was obviously talking about Maddux... because there aren't any pitchers on the Cubs that have had "years of success." And if you're going to cast stones at arguably the best pitcher of the 90's, you better come strong and you better come with some hard facts instead of this hear-say bull s***... and you, and your fans, damn well better be prepared to take some heat for it.

What a turd. I didn't mind him before this but he definitely climbed the bitch ladder with this half-assed, unprovoked accusation.

Why not say it? If he has heard that this is happening why not say it? So if he would have heard that Sammy Sosa was on the juice, should he not of said that because hes a future HOFer? The fact is, Buehrle never said that he knows Maddux does, he said he heard he does it.

Nice response.....seeing as he's a lot better than you are right now.

But nobody knows about Buehrle, he's only 8-1.

815152

And Maddux has 4 Cy Youngs and 14 gold gloves....whats your point?

815155

That the guy who's 5-4 with a 4.68 shouldn't be pompous enough to be ignorning the existance of the guy who's 8-1 with a 2.67

But of course, that defends a White Sox player, so it's wrong.

815156

In the course of history to this point....Buerhle doesnt hold a candle to Maddux, and I dont know if he ever will. So yes, for Greg Maddux right now, he doesnt need to be bashed by a guy like Buerhle. Who is Mark Buerhle?

Buerhle's obsession with the Cubs comes from the fact that they are the White Sox rival and the team he really wants to play for, the Cardinals, has the Cubs as their rival as well.

:lol :lol :lol

I give you credit, you are getting even dumber than before. The man had the chance to go back to St. Louis to play for the team of his childhood a couple years back (which to be honest was what I thought he'd do), but chose to sign and extension with us.

Please check your facts before you make such statements, your only making yourself look dumb.

Buehrle has stated numerous times that he would like to finish his career with the Cardinals as he stated on the SCORE a few days ago.

In an interview with MLB.com....located here:

http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb...ews&team_id=mlb

He says:

mmahoney123: Are you and your teammates glad to see the Cubs fall out of the playoffs?

MB: Personally I am because I grew up a Cardinals' fan. But as far as my teammates, I don't think it matters much to them.

filwsox2: What do you have to say about Barry Bonds, and his chance to break the home run record?

MB: Being a Cardinals' fan, I would like to see McGwire hang on to the record. But because Bonds is donating money from every home run to charity, I'd like to seem him hit a lot more.

And it is common knowledge that Buehrle asked Walt Jocketty to acquire him at a banquet in 2002.

How stupid am I Craig? Really?

Where does it say that he would like to finish his career with the Cardinals? I don't see it there.

Extremely stupid. Link me to where he asked that please, he'd be a Cardinal if that incident happened.

Lefthander Mark Buehrle caused a bit of concern in the White Sox organization during the off-season when he turned to Cardinals general manager Walt Jocketty at a banquet and told him that he would love St. Louis to acquire him. When the comment made it into the Chicago newspapers, White Sox general manager Kenny Williams expressed disappointment in Buehrle, whose 3.29 ERA was the lowest among American League lefties last year.

All right, I'll just leave it alond, your right he did say it.

Everyone seems to want to defend Maddux because he's a future hall-of-famer, and yet these are the same mediots who will rip into Frank Thomas any chance they get. Therefore, I see these people as hypocrites.

(For those of you who are ignorant enough to argue that Thomas is not a hall-of-famer, his career numbers are among the top 10 White Sox players in nearly every offensive category you can imagine outside of triples and stolen bases; he ranks #1 all time for the White Sox in: on base %, slugging %, OPS, total bases, doubles, HR, RBI, BB, and extra-base hits. Luke Appling, a hall-of-famer himself, is second place or lower in all of these categories.)

As far as Buehrle is concerned, he can say whatever the hell he wants as long as he keeps pitching his ass off.

I don't see what Hurt has to do with anything...

I don't think there are many people on here who argue with the career he has had... atleast not me.

I suppose the bottom line is that this seems to be bothering cubs fans more than it's bothering Maddux. If he doesn't care, why should they? Then they talk about how Sox fans are so "immature." If you can't ignore someone who's immature then you yourself are just as immature. Plain and simple. Maddux ignored Buehrle's comment. I suggest Cubs fans follow suit, as the Cubs themselves won't be putting any money where their collective mouth is come next weekend. I only wish Buehrle were pitching against them...

Ryan Dempster :notworthy

"Basically I use snot if I have it. Mark, you caught me. I'm glad, with your busy schedule, you had nothing else to do but imply I was using spit on the ball."

--Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster, responding to Buehrle's accusations (Chicago Tribune)

"He must get bored in-between the four days off. As a [former] starter, I can appreciate that."

--Dempster, on Buehrle's motivation

"Doing the relieving thing, I don't have enough time to think of things like that. Although I know that one of the White Sox players, I heard, is using some sort of atomic bomb in his jockstrap."

--Dempster

did demp just figure that the comments buehrle made were about him?? or did buehrle specify and call out dempster?

if buehrle didn't specify then demp is just making himself look guilty

nonetheless, those are funny lines to retaliate with

818216

Nah, Buehrle mentioned no specific names..... Dempster added fuel to the fire.

BUT since he's a loveable Cubbie, and Buerhle is a big bad White Sox, that doesn't matter.
