July 1, 200521 yr 13/15 saves, 1.36 ERA.. first in NL in ERA for a closer. ..both his blown saves were in the 8th inning when he came into a really tough situation. He's been perfect in the 9th. He's been SO important to our team this year combined with the great ERA, I don't see how he can't make the all-star team. Thoughts?
July 1, 200521 yr It's funny you should mention that because he has definitely been great for us so far, but nobody ever seems to really talk him up. I am surprised there isn't some kind of Todd Jones following. We need to build ourselves a Todd Jones bandwagon. LOL.
July 1, 200521 yr How many closers typically get taken for the ASG? I'm thinking Jones' lack of save opportunities will hurt him when you have guys like Cordero (28/30), Isringhausen (22/24), Hoffman, (21/23), etc.
July 1, 200521 yr Ishrin and Cordero will get the relief and closer spot. Both are having amazing years even if Jones is having a good year. Cordero is what almost 30 saves now?

July 1, 200521 yr Jones would have so many more saves if he closed more games and if we were winning them. :plain

July 1, 200521 yr Author They took 4 closers last year.. Cordero and Issy are shoe-ins.. If they take 4 again, the last 2 would come down to (in my opinion), Brad Lidge, Billy Wagner and Todd Jones. Those 2 have more saves but Jones has a whole run on them in ERA. Hopefully he can go on a run of saves and get a few before the AS break.

July 1, 200521 yr What good is a campaign when we can't vote for All-Star pitchers? Someone know LaRussa's e-mail address?
July 1, 200521 yr If four closers are there, it's going to be Isringhausen, Lidge, Hoffman, and Cordero. Todd Jones isn't getting in, even on a long shot.

Jones is probably top 5 right now in the NL but not in the top 3...not enough save opps....even though Cordero is pitching out of his mind...15 saves in the month that is amazing....so he is well deserving
