July 7, 200519 yr WTF IS THIS!!!!!!!! WASNT CUBA SUPPOSE TO BE REPRESENTED?? I SAY WE F'KING BOYCOTT THIS PIECE OF S**T 841922 I want Lowell representing Cuba :plain
July 7, 200519 yr Abreu over Cabrera? . 841820 I KNOW! IT'S COMPLETELY ABSURD! How could they choose a guy with 18 HR's over one with 16 HR's. Have they no math skills? 16> 18 842750 I'm sure if Miguel Cabrera played in Citizens Bank Park he would have a lot more than 16 home runs. 842839 Please, Abreu isn't some hack who struggles on the road. He plays just as well home or away. Ballparks do not affect superstars.
July 7, 200519 yr Abreu is the right call. Miguel would be fine as well, but Abreu deserve the honor more
July 7, 200519 yr Exactly, Cabrera is still young and only growing. Abreu is in the prime of an up to this point unheralded career. He deserves to bask in the lime light a little now that he's finally being recognized for his accomplishments. Cabrera will almost certainly take part in many future derbys.
July 7, 200519 yr Yea...Abreu does really deserve it...but its just a shame that they had to do it like this...i think its really gay....id like to boycott it to show my dissapointment in this format...but Im pretty sure ill get stuck watching it since my boyfriends favorite guy is in there...Jason Bay :confused I knew Miguel wouldnt be in there as soon as I heard on Fox Sports Pittsburgh that Jason Bay was going to be in the Home Run Derby representing Canada....i figured right away if they were doing it like that ...then Abreu would represent Venezuela over Cabrera....it makes sense. Thats not the one you should be mad about...some of those other ones really are messed up
July 7, 200519 yr why the hell is pudge in over delgado??? 841813 Because Pudge plays for Detroit, and the ASG was in, you guessed it...
July 7, 200519 yr I bet Ichiro won't hit a single HR, especially in Comerica, mabye if the derby was somewhere else he'd manage to get a few, but not in Comerica.

Maybe Im wrong..if I am...someone correct me....thats just something I always assumed.

I SAY WE F'KING BOYCOTT THIS PIECE OF S**T 841922 I want Lowell representing Cuba :plain 842958 LMAO. Lowell couldnt hit a HR if you through him a juiced ball in Coors field in batting practice. Fidel Castro would have a better shot at a HR for Cuba.
July 7, 200519 yr Abreu is deserving but be honest, Cabrera would have 20+ homeruns if he played his home games in that cracker jack ballpark. Cabrera is just as deserving as Abreu but I have no beef that hes not in it, abreu is a damn good ballplayer.

I'm just saying that alot of the long fly ball outs hit in Dolphins Stadium would have probably been homers in a lot of other ball parks. Either way both players are deserving and like you said Abreu is in his prime and deserves it. It's just a shame that they had make up this format so players like Cabrera miss out.

July 8, 200519 yr New-look Home Run Derby field is set Players to represent eight different nations in contest By Mark Newman / MLB.com It's global. It's golden. It's gone. That is probably the best way to describe what fans in Detroit and around the world are about to see with a new-look CENTURY 21 Home Run Derby, which starts at 8 p.m. ET Monday during All-Star Game festivities at Comerica Park. The 20th anniversary of this event will be celebrated with a couple of dramatic changes, including a largely new, eight-man field representing eight different nations and the introduction of a "Golden Home Run Ball" during each player's at-bat. Full Story Those eight players will include Hee-Seop Choi of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who was added Thursday to complete the field, representing Korea. He joins Philadelphia's Bobby Abreu (Venezuela), Pittsburgh's Jason Bay (Canada), Atlanta's Andruw Jones (the Netherlands), Milwaukee's Carlos Lee (Panama), Boston's David Ortiz (Dominican Republic), Detroit's Ivan Rodriguez (Puerto Rico) and Texas' Mark Teixeira (United States). LMAO Hee-Seop Choi.. This s*** is weak.. Excuse my language.. Finals should be Ortiz vs who cares?
