we don't need the wild card we need the division

Obviously there is no NEED to win the division. I think we proved that twice. We play in division so much that the division is still within reach, however we do need much more consistency.

And the Angels and Red Sox proved that you don't need to win the division either..

Yes, I?m happy as ever that the Marlins have won 2 World Series, no matter how they got there, but personally I think the Wild-Card in baseball has no disadvantage whatsoever, a thought that is shared by many, because they get to host too many games.

Yes, Wild Card entrants have won 4 World Series since 1997 and three in a row, but in addition to talented teams, that was also helped that the teams weren?t at any real disadvantage against the teams that did what you?re supposed to do (win the division).

The Division Series is still bad (2 games at Division Winner, 2 games at Wild Card, Game 5 at Division Winner), but at least that?s some improvement over the first generation of Division Series which was 2 games at Wild Card with the last three at the Division Winner, a set up which penalized the Division Winner.

To me, Wild Cards should only get to host 1 Division Series game (Game 1), with the remaining 4 games at the Division Winner.

In the League Championship Series, I would set it up as 2-2-3. Yes, Games 5-6-7 would all be at the Division Winner's park, but then again, that?s why you play for home field advantage, right?

The World Series, I would leave alone at 2-3-2, and have the home field determined by the league with the best interleague record, not the All Star Game winner.

At least in the other sport with a wild-card, football (yes, I know its one game and not a best of), wild cards never sniff a home game and are punished with road games all the way through.

That being said, Do I want the Marlins to finally win their division? Yes. Do I want the Marlins to make the playoffs anyway possible? Yes.
