WhoShaq
Why as the All star game approaches do our selected players always screw up AFTER they are selected? It happens all the time. The Marlins are afraid of bad weather, especially the pitchers. One sign of duress, and we lose it (confidence, rythym,stride,gohona's,etc)....all out the window and now were are 7 games out again. This team are sellers IMO. I'll eat my words about the team if they comeback tonight, but we on the verge of losing (being crushed)by a flailing Cubs team who had not won in 8 games. :mad

It happens alot as players start to press as they try to keep their numbers up for national tv...and end up going into slumps as the Allstar game approaches. I mean look at our selected players and look how bad the numbers have been since they've been selected.LoDuca's BA has dropped at least 15 points. Do we have to win every damn game? 846787 The thing that mashes my brain in is this. When have the Marlins won the first game of a series last? Anyone, anyone? It seems when we have some strange weather, instead of taking advantage of being the home team in times of dreary duress, we seem to cower down like little girls. Happens all the time. Dontrelle? If he were as a dominating pitcher as he appeared to be, he wouldn't ever have a game like he had tonight. Did Bob Gibson have a game like this in his ultimate season? Did Sandy Koufax? Nah, only Marlins pitchers do these smoking mirror tricks on their fans. Tired of Josh and his blisters and mysterious back twists. They should wear effing dresses on the field.I mean that.Time to BUTCH up and show some heart, man.

Guest Moneyball
He's known he was going to the ASG for about a month now. This start had nothing to do with that. The weather is horrible tonight.
geemoney
Well, I'm officially off the "Dontrelle for A.S. game starter" bandwagon. Damn, and if he had a good outing, he'd still be in the running.
Fish Tank Frenzy
His AVG has dropped .07 pts since being selected and D Train pitched a complete game SO the day he was selected.

PBMarlin
Dontrelle had trouble keeping the ball down tonight. It happens. He may not be able to repeat his first half performance, but look for Dontrelle to continue to have a great season. He has a good attitude and good heart. RockyMountainMarlin
I hope he is still picked to start. Pedro is out of the game already. When is Clemens pitching?
FreshFish
I hope he is still picked to start. Pedro is out of the game already. When is Clemens pitching? 847262 I'm 99.999% sure he won't start and I hope he doesn't. He gave up 8 ER, not what you want to see the game before the AS. I don't want to see him start the ASG and see him struggle, that won't be good for his confidence.

That's what happens. Baseball is a game of long run statistics, you can't get an accurate picture from one datum. In most instances Dontrelle has been awesome. Also, the pitchers you mentioned played in the second deadball era, when every advantage was given to the pitcher. In our era, every advantage is given to the hitter. Plus, Bob Gibson had a 1.08 ERA. Is that what you are expecting from Dontrelle? If so, maybe you should reallign your expectations. Your posts are so overboard man. When we win this team is World Series bound, when we lose the team should be in a trash heap. On a somewhat related note, has anybody ever thought of giving awards to different members at the end of the season? If we were to do that, you would definitely get the Chicken Little Award. Instead of emphasizing the bad, you should be emphasizing the good of this game: Mike Lowell was 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and a Home Run! DAMN IT! :banghead

Also,I haven't given up after only one loss. They have lost 40 times, haha.Just kidding,I know what you meant. Wow, 40 times already! :o We'll have to really get things going but it's going to be tough when we resume the season on the road. Bob Gibson was 32 and in his 10th season when he had his "ultimate" season. Bob's career stats: http://www.baseball-reference.com/g/gibsobo01.shtml Sandy Koufax...looks like he was about 25 y.o. when he started pitching consistantly. http://www.baseball-reference.com/k/koufasa01.shtml My point??? Let's let Willis get some more experience. Koufax and Gibson both did before they bacame the type of pitcher that you expect Willis to be now. I'm not saying that Willis will be in Bob or Sandy's class....but at the same age of their career....Dontrelle is more than holding his own.....
