ESPNEWS report on rookie pitching...

Featured Replies

no doubt ramp, i wasnt the ones dissing webb. he's close behind d train

i know jrod.... i know

i do like arguing with some dback fans who go onto the ESPN.com board saying that Dontrelle doesnt deserve it bla bla bla.

ERA is something close to that (I'm gonna work from memory on numbers too, no surprise I usualyl do). Willis' K/9 In blow Webb's out of the water. Webb has more starts, Willis more wins. Webb has better average against. I still think Willis gets the nod of ROY, especially since many people (myself included) think he should win CY Young.

Just curious, why not take that extra half-minute and actually look up the stats on ESPN? Your posts would be more accurate and more informative if you did. For instance, your comment that Willis's K/9 "blow Webb out of the water" is inaccurate. Willis has 8.60 K/9 this season, while Webb has 8.09 K/9. I doubt anyone would seriously consider that being "blown out of the water."

That being said, Willis will most definitely win ROY this season, mainly because he's simply received way more hype and attention than Webb. But if you look at the actual numbers, Webb leads in most of the important categories used to reflect pitching dominance (ERA, WHIP, K/BB, quality starts, etc.). As far as who I would rather have to build my team around...I would give the nod to Willis since he's only 21.

Because I had something more important to do at the time.

I meant in general. Unless you always have something more important to do at the time...

umm , one question... does it cost $$ for te forums in Espn and MLB...

DownRodeo ,

You need to get laid your a stats homo , Probably have never played the game and if you did you probably sucked . Stats are nice to know but Christ almighty give it a rest . Everytime you post it seems you do it to put down peoples stats or cause some kind of controversy .

Again word to the wise im not sure which way you swing but you definately need to get laid.

Not that I know of

Who really cares who is better right now? Just enjoy Willis - the kid came out of nowhere and is just blowing minds right now. Webb is another good young pitcher, and who wouldnt like to have either. Besides, since Willis is a Marlin, we are obviously more biased to him. Heck, ask a Cub fan who they would rather have....

But, I think I would rather Willis because he is a lefty...

You are getting on a guy for making baseball arguments, yet you are trying to cause controversy yourself by calling a fellow poster a homosexual. Probably one of the most ridiculous and stupid posts Ive read on this board.

I prefer Willis to Webb as a better pitching prospect for two reasons:

1) His delivery makes it difficult for a batter to spot the ball, Webb's doesn't.

2) Willis has an attitude that doesn't change, he is constantly working quickly and quietly and getting the job done. I can't comment on Webb since I've only seen him pitch once.
