Hawaii places a cap on gas prices

Here's a solution for people: Stop buying Humvees.

H1's actually get very decent gas mileage because of their turbo diesel engines, infact better than many family sedan's on the road. Regardless, there are only 500 to 750 Hummer H1's produced every year, so it doesn't matter if they got 1mpg or 100mpg, there are so few of them on the road to make any sort of difference, and I can assure you the people who can afford them don't exactly care about gas prices.

H2's on the other hand are disgusting, however people obsess over it way too much and think only large vehicles get bad mileage. I can point out a number of minivans, pickup trucks, etc. that get equally as bad mileage.

Good luck finding comparable sized minivans having worse gas mileage than SUVs considering minivans are by and large lighter, more aerodynamic, have smaller engines, and are FWD. Also, pick ups get crappy gas mileage because they're SUVs without the bed being covered up.

minivans are actually great vehicles, get the job done of an SUV, safer, better gas mileage, just without the 'sexiness' thats overrated anyway as SUV's are the most unsafe vehicles on the road and give people the greatest false sense of security ever.

fiscal conservatives for price controls?

Ive heard our gas prices really arent as bad as some other nations.

But, in those nations, their vehicles are smaller and more fuel efficient, the cities aren't big, sprawling messes, and you can get from place to place without the need for a car. You may pay $5/gallon in England, but (by and large) you're not going to go through a whole tank of gas in a week, either. You may pay $6/gallon in France, but French people walk everywhere, so that full tank will last them quite a while.

I was thinking the same thing on my way to work this morning. They really don't do as much driving as the average American.

I know. You're preaching to the choir.
