July 28, 200521 yr Seriously though, all things aside which offer do u guys like better Marte/McCarthy or Arroyo/Sanchez? Really i cant see how the White Sox offer is better. RIght now Marte is on pace for 19 more innings, so the Marlins would get 19 innings of 3 ERA ball and a good SP spect. Now if they did the Red Sox deal they would get a SP whos actually 2 years younger than Marte who would give them 75 innings this season of 4 ERA ball and a good SP prospect whos probaly better than the one the White Sox are offering. So you can have the 30yr MR (19inn, 3 ERA) or the 28yr SP (75inn, 4 ERA ball) along with a good SP prospect in each deal. So im asking this, you guys wouldnt be disappointed if you got the White Sox offer instead of hte Red Sox offer just because two owners hate each other?
July 28, 200521 yr no, i personally wouldn't be disapointed because i plain dont think arroyo is that good

July 28, 200521 yr im in agreement as far as not trading burnett to any team that would in turn trade him to another NL east opponent...plus i dont like the dealing with the sox because no matter highly touted their prospects are, they still do best at buying their team, not developing it, which kinda scares me in for trading for their prospects...does anyone know about any progress as far as rumors with the tigers? i actually kinda like the deal they have and as a team on the up and up and only a few games out of the wildcard...i could deal for maroth, granderson and a reliever
July 28, 200521 yr I personally rather keep AJ and ride it out as I have voiced a few times. I will say the following though, 1. Sanchez is a real prospect and perhaps a prize. He is rated Higher then one of the RedSox two prize pitchers. So that should tell you something there. 2. I think the Red Sox would have less of a chance to flip him to the Phillies then the ChiSox. The White Sox most likely have less of a chance to sign him in a 72 hour window then the Red Sox do. The Red Sox on the other hand know they can sign him right now. But if he goes to FA, then they need to compete with Washington (good chance with his family right there, would everyone hate that one?) , Baltimore (front runner in the offseason), Yankees (who has the money? They do, Brown is gone then they will have alot of cash. They also have Pavano whom is AJ's good friend), Blue Jays (they will have cash to spend and AJ best friend). I think there is a good shot he would sign with the Red Sox. AJ Wants to pitch before a full house and he can get that in boston. He cant down here Though everyone here is a true fan ( I never thought there used to be many other true marlins fans before I found here so thank you brothers and sisters of the fish for proving me wrong). Though everyone here is fanatic and true fish fan we cant fill a stadium because of the general populace lives for other stuff down here or are from up north and only follow teams like boston or the yanks. 3. As for the Deals, Well I like Marte, I think he could solidify our bullpen, but we still need a starter. McCarthy is a true blue chip prospect and would be ready next year. We could move Olsen or Him into the line up or if we wish to risk it both. But either way one of them would be lovely. Arroyo on the other hand we would get for 1 year then he is gone. Another rental but at least a solid number 3 next year behind willis and Josh. Unless he decides to stay with his home town (possible). I see holes in each of them. One we dont get relief help and one we dont get a SP we need for now. If the red sox gave us a quality relief pitcher somehow in a three way deal. Or else White Sox a solid pitcher then I would be fine with them both. 4. The FO wants to move mikey's salary and we cant in either of them. Personally I still think he is gonna stay and make the run for it. It might build on the fan base. If we do make the playoffs then they will end up making alot more cash. I think that is the deal they will make. But, that is just me.
July 28, 200521 yr Its pretty simply AJ wants to go to Boston and sign a deal, so the Red Sox have to offer something else in the deal White Sox deal is base on just renting AJ for this year, b/c he isn't signing in Chicago. I'd bet you that this, if AJ says he'll sign with the White Sox that deal is a little different

I dont think they should so its probaly those two offers or the Marlins keep Burnett. I wouldnt add any more if I were the Red Sox, as the deal is now, I wouldnt mind getting Burnett for that, and at the same time I wouldnt mind keeping Arroyo/Sanchez. But its looking like the Marlins will keep him.

July 28, 200521 yr "In Theo we Trust" He will not trade Papelbon/Lester/Sanchez/Pedroia/HanRam/Hansen/Delcarmen/Moss There is a strong rumor that we might get Wagner for Arroyo and Shoppach. Also we might get Cruz Jr.DFA'D by Arizona to platoon with Kapler until Trot returns if and when he does.Manny will only go to the Mets if possible .Minaya wants to make a big splash and they have the $$$$$$ to do it .How bout this rumor on WEEI850 Boston Man Ram for Beltran. We have a great young corp coming up and will compete for years to come. Our team is old now but wont be for long.

Or did it all come from WEEI?
July 29, 200521 yr Most of it came from the sports station and home of the Red Sox WEEI850 .The other info on Wagner came from Prosportsdaily.com including an article from Bill Conlin from Philly.com and the Cruz Jj. rumor came from the Boston Globe by Gordon Edes. I picked the Marlins and Red Sox at the beginning of the year to be in the World Series. We are hearing up here that AJ wouldsign long term here who knows!
