Notice to all North Floridians!

Featured Replies

Hello to all our North Floridian friends. Recently I toured your part of the state and was angered at the notion that you guys still cannot get games on the radio, let alone cable. Well, this has re-energized me into reformulating a march to get you guys your Marlins!

Notice to all of you in Tallahassee, Gainesville, Jacksonville, and the Panhandle...they will hear from all of us soon!

First we shall start with radio. It is easier to get a small radio station to listen over a large corporate cable system.

Tallahassee (CapeFish, UMFan4Life7): The state's capitol should have the state's baseball team!

Gainesville (MRMarlin93, markotsay7): The Braves have invaded UF-owned 850 WRUF! Take G-Town back!

Panama City: Panhandle baby!

Please beg Ms. Kim Styles (kimstyles@aol.com) to add the Marlins to one of her stations. They are located online at http://www.talkradio101.com/ and http://www.espnradio1290.com/ and remind her that 1290 once carried the Marlins.

Jacksonville: The old Marlins station went bye bye...have one to suggest?

Want to join? Please contact your local station mentioned above and post about that contact here. Teams from each area can be formed to add extra pressure on stations to add games.

Yeah we are lucky here in G-ville cuz Cox cable shows all the marlin games but we need radio bad. Let's do it.

Wish to be part of the Gainesville lobbying team?

:thumbup We can use all the support we can get. I will get in contact with WQAM tomorrow to give them a nice push to get them rolling. Maybe we can get it for this season.

We don't have a PAX affiliate though. We only get the FSN games.

I'll join the GVille crusade.

I get crappy reception at my house for the radio games on QAM, so I bought XM radio. Simply beautiful. I took a road trip to North Carolina recently and listened to the Marlins game all the way through South Carolina on XM. It was a beautiful thing, kinda' choked me up a little.

You can get the Pax games on the Cox sports channel. If you get channels 2-72.

67 is the cox sports channel. Direct feed too.

I targeted 1450 because they are willing to air programming that is family-friendly. They have gospel music at night...seems recorded too.

We should do this in Orlando as well... its not on cable, its on the radio... well sort of... you can kind of pick up a name every now and then through the static...

Well, 660 WORL isn't good...decent fits the bill. However they are really loyal and you can catch them on a good radio through most of the Orlando Metro Area.

The cox sports net. shows minor league stuff every once in a while. If the game is on Pax it is usually on. I Don't live in the dorms though.

I'm pretty sure 1450 has nothing to do with sports. 1410 is ESPN's station that only has national sports. 1270 has local sports and political talk radio. 1270 used to carry the Braves but that may have changed when they began to also carry political shows.

Nirvana,

1450 is our first try because 1270 didn't even respond in past years.

Ah, okay. Well, I'll give you some advice. The best bet for Marlin fans in Tallahassee is to get the local Comcast unit to pick up Fox Sports (I'm pissed we don't have it) or get Sun Sports to carry the Marlins games. You won't have a chance with local radio. I think the Braves may have even lost their radio spot, and they are a lot more popular than the Marlins or DRays in north FL.

Well, Comcast and FSN/SUN will sit down soon hopefully. However, the Marlins moving to Sun Sports has moved into the almost impossible column for 2006. I hear that if Comcast doesn't add FSN, FSN may pick up the Magic and ACC Sunday Night Hoops plus any other ACC programs like FSU Football Encores, Coaches Shows, and Games.

Hopefully Comcast will get its head out of its ass. When I lived in Tuscaloosa for law school, I got FSN but didn't get MSNBC. In Tallahassee, I get MSNBC but not FSN. I can't seem to win and get both. They freakin' piss me off!

I still don't know what is up with Sun Sports. They used to cover most Marlins games back in the day. Now they just cover damn fishing and NBA games. Ugh......

I live in Tallahassee also.

I would just get a dish man. I get to watch almost every game via FSN or an ESPN alternate telecast. Also, I can watch my fins on the ticket. It's worth it IMO.
