Can someone explain to me WTF has happened to many of the good cable news shows?

 

Scarborough Country, which used to be my favorite cable news program has been for the past 3+ months dedicating the first 30 minutes of the hour long time-slot to this garbage going on in Aruba. It's ridiculous, absurd, and every other word in the book.

 

What ever happened to talking about the REAL news and the REAL issues? It is just amazing to me how this tabloid garbage in Aruba is more important than Israel pulling out of Gaza and a boatload of other major issues in the world.

 

This tabloid crap has in the past usually been relegated to shows like Geraldo, etc., not so anymore. It's not just Scarborough Country, it's almost every other cable news program on TV... even my beloved Hannity & Colmes!

Pretty upper-middle class white girls generate higher ratings than funny looking people that John Q. Public can't really identify with that live in the Middle East. However, I agree with you about this crap with Natalee Holloway. At this point, I just want it to cease being "news". I'm tired of that girl clogging up the news while huge events that could effect world history aren't mentioned but for 10 minute blurbs at the end of a news program.

I certainly agree with you, The only show I can watch on a regular basis anymore on cable is Lou Dobbs who doesn't cover the fluff stories like Aruba.

 

I had to laugh when I was watching O'reilly last friday and they had a guy on because he found a generic belt on the beach that was similar to one that appeared in a photo with a suspect.

You can even tell the guys like Scarborough, O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, etc. absolutely hate covering these worthless stories... but hey, anything for ratings :thumbup .

 

On Scarborough Country tonight, the first 30 minutes was dedicated to stupid Aruba crap and the second half of the show was dedicated to the "groom who disappeared at sea!"

Scarborough has completely lost it. He must have been in love with this girl before she disappeared, because I've never seen anyone cover a story like he has. This stupidity has confirmed to me that he is a real moron.

 

Don't even get me started on Hannity and Colmes.

Cable news has always been Mickey Mouse non-sense, it's quality hasn't gone anywhere, it's entertainment. The only time I watch it is to make sure the world isn't ending.

I agree with the sentiment news in general has gone down hill , this "Sheehan" story does not deserve the hour by hour coverage it is getting it is bordering on the ridicoulous I just got another update Cindy Sheeham still doesnt like Bush talk about a story that has produced no news gets non stop coverage ...what got more coverage Israel pulling out of Gaza a significant story that could effect the middle east peace process or some angry lady in Texas? ...scary how we can get Holloway now Sheeham coverage none stop yet cant get any real news.

I agree with Rune about Lou Dobbs and I admire the way he'll always state his oppinion or make a personal comment on a story after an interview.

 

One of the new shows I really can't stand is Wolf Blitzer's "the Situation Room". Basically it's a bunch of big tv screens with live video feeds of random news stories and a bunch of commentators who READ BLOGS ON TV!!!!!!
