August 27, 200521 yr "When you have guys ahead of you who get on base, I don't care what spot in the order I'm batting in," said Conine, now batting second. "I'm going to try to take advantage and drive them in. Juan Pierre was ahead of me. Vargas was on base ahead of me today. I had opportunities." We need our players to have this type of attitude. Conine can be a leader. A lot better than having a sulking Lowell in the lineup at this point in the year. Go Fish!
August 27, 200521 yr Nice to see a few more people on Conine's side these days. Just a couple months ago it was me and 2 or 3 others. The unrelenting hate/disrespect the guy got was just downright wrong. Steve's the man.

August 27, 200521 yr conine is really putting up some awesome numbers given the limited playing time until recently. would 'probably' be on pace for another typical conine year if he were playing everyday. good to see him getting fairly regular PT these days.
August 27, 200521 yr Jeff's performance at the plate over the past 12 months has shown many of us doubters that he is still a valuable bat in the lineup. His best position is 1B. The ball he let sail over his head yesterday by taking a terrible route to it, plus 2 or 3 more in RF in previous days shows his range in the OF is limited.
August 27, 200521 yr He's always been a very good outfielder, quietly productive without great speed. Not sure what hapened, but I'm sure a few more games he'll get better.
August 27, 200521 yr Conine is having a 2003 experience all over again. In 2003 he played with Baltimore, then came here in a trade and played with us in second half. This season, Conine really hasn't played much until the second half of the season and he's giving us that same boost as he did in 03.
August 27, 200521 yr I've been an unwavering supporter of BOTH Conina and Encarnacion since spring training. Both are bonafide major leaguers who belong on this club and the baseball gods have found a way to reward both. :thumbup
August 27, 200521 yr I would like to see him belt a couple the average and the clutch hits have been awesome but the actual production hasnt been there ... and his defense at times have cost us quite a bit I wouldnt really say he would be having a "typical" conine year if he was given extended/everyday playing time given thats around 290/18/90 but im glad he is getting an opportunity
