September 9, 200520 yr I dont want Millwood or Morris.? Neither have shown the ability as of late to be a #2 pitcher.? We could move Aguila into CF and he'd produce.? If we did a trade with the Yanks that gave them Pierre and that brought Pavano back, I'd be happy tho. 936175 Millwood has pitched better than AJ or Beckett this year. Morris has pitched almost as well as Beckett. If you don't want those guys, I don't know who you think we can sign to be our #3 guy at a managable price. Those guys blow away Vargas/Olsen/Valdez/Moehler. It isn't like we can make a trade for Santana. It amuses me that you'd want Pavano back but don't want Millwood or Morris. Those two are better than Pavano will ever dream of being. 936236 Kevin Millwood is 30 and making $7,000,000 this year, so theres a good chance his asking price could be as high as AJs. As for Morris, he was complete garbage last year, and has been incosistent this season. I advocate trading with the Twins and acquiring Carlos Silva(26, $1,750,000 this season, 9-7, 3.26 ERA, 1.16 WHIP). Morris and Millwood are too expensive and Morris could easily go back to being garbage, let someone else overpay for those two.
September 9, 200520 yr It's been great. Luiy does everything you want out of the leadoff spot. Getting on base, showing the opposing pitchers' repetoire and taking a base when asked. Pierre gives us a contact hitter behind our big boys that an injured LoDuca can not provide and speed that is sorely missed at the bottom of the lineup. And best of all we solved the whole redundancies problem, now having a #2 hitter to actually swing the bat and drive runners in.
September 9, 200520 yr Woah, guys, if you're set on trading JP, wait until he comes close to his peak value again. (Then again, I'm sure there will be an even bigger backlash then).
September 9, 200520 yr how did this thread turn from praising luis to trading off players? season isnt over yet lets let our guys lead us to the promise land until everyone starts playing GM
September 9, 200520 yr Watch the malicious intent on your post, Shamrock. :lol Castillo - Hermida - Cabrera is a great top of the linup in my opinion. 935879 friendly sniping. 935882 My dear friend Mr. Shamster can take a snipe at me any time he wants. :thumbup As for my comments, three weeks ago when Looie was so banged up he could barely move, and previous to Hermida being called up, I think they were relevant then. Luis' steal last night was a thing of beauty but let's be honest, he stole it off the pitcher, not Brian Schneider. He still doesn't run like the Luis of old (or even earlier this season). I'm thrilled to see Castillo, and the whole team (that includes JP who is being very productive in the 7 hole), doing so well. Winning is all that matters. I'll be back soon.

September 9, 200520 yr I love Castillo's at bats. He sees a ton of pitches.....just like a leadoff man should.
