September 14, 200520 yr I wanted to see what you guys thought about Willis winning the Cy Young... Up to now, Willis and Carpenter have almost identical stats. The difference is Carpenter's edge in ERA of a .18 less... see below for the stats... Carpenter = Record 21-4 | CG 7 / SHO 4| ERA 2.31 Willis ==== Record 21-8 | CG 7 / SHO 5| ERA 2.49 In addition, Willis is a great hitting pitcher... I think if Carpenter gets knocked around in his last couple starts, the Marlins make it in the playoffs, and D Train pitches Gems in his last 3 starts... I think D Train can win it... Although at this point, there has been sooo much talk about Carpenter, that Willis will really need to pitch lights out and Carpenter tank... What do you guys think?
September 14, 200520 yr Unfortunately I think Carpenter has it locked up. Just because he pitches in St. Louis, and his season has been talked about much more on the national scene. I listen to alot of different games on XM radio, and I hear Carpenters name tossed around a heck of a lot more than Willis'. Boog said on his program yesterday with Peter Gammons that Carpenter could lose his last few starts and still win the Cy Young. I don't get it, but who can figure out the national media. Tim Kurkjan has a vote, so that sums up my point. My vote would go to Dontrel. Homer!!
September 14, 200520 yr Caprenter most likely has it locked up according to basically everything I have read and seen, but if Dontrelle leads us into the playoffs by pitching the way he has been lately, and Carpenter has a few more outings like he did last night, well, D-Train deserves it.

September 14, 200520 yr No, Carpenter will continue to be dominant, he will give up no more than a run in each of his last few starts most likely.
