If we have to trade Delgado in the offseason, which I dont want to. I would prefer trading him to the Mets to prevent them from getting Manny.

God no.

I'm a big Delgado fan. He's been everything we expected of him, both offensively and defensively. But I think he's a $14M luxury on a team that doesn't figure to be playoff competitive. That is unless we make some big moves with our pitching staff. We're going to lose Jones...and there's nobody else of note in the bullpen. So that has to be completely overhauled. Our starting rotation lines up as Dontrelle, Beckett, and...........who.....Vargas(looks good, but who knows what to expect), and ????.

Building a rotation around Beckett and Dontrelle is something a lot of clubs out there can't say. Once you throw in the mix Vargas and Olsen (one of them will pan out), we should be OK. This ballclub has a chance to contend as long as young players like Dontrelle, Beckett, and Cabrera are around.

What about the bullpen?

Anyway, I also agree 100%. They have a chance. There's always a chance....and the good 1-2 starters combined with a good middle infield defense give them a better chance than many. It's just that this year IMO on paper they had an 80% chance of making the playoffs. Next year, we'll see, but I doubt that the "chance" will be that high.
