September 27, 200521 yr Sorry if its been posted before, but I read on espn.com: The Herald reported that Yankees bench coach Joe Girardi has been mentioned as a likely target to replace McKeon. McKeon is expected to discuss his future with owner Jeffery Loria this week, the newspaper reported. Thoughts?
September 27, 200521 yr Girardi isn't a bad choice, but he's got no experience. I am hoping Ozzie leaves the White Sox and comes back to So. Florida.
September 27, 200521 yr if ozzie comes back, does that mean jack will be our 3b coach :lol that would be a funny sight. I like ozzie hopefully he comes back here!

September 27, 200521 yr No surprises here. There's likely more than one person in the FO that isn't expecting McKeon back.

September 27, 200521 yr Sweeeeeeeeeet -- he is very easy on the eyes. Welcome, Joe - if that is not too premature!
September 27, 200521 yr Don't know why exactly, but I have a little bit of reluctance. I guess it's due to his lack of years experience actually managing a major league ballclub. There is no problem if he is hired and I will support him, but I do hope there are a few more candidates interviewed. I just want to see the best man hired for the job.
September 28, 200521 yr Does anyone know if Girardi has even been contacted yet? Or is this all speculation?
September 28, 200521 yr Does anyone know if Girardi has even been contacted yet? Or is this all speculation? Pretty sure no one will be "officially" contacted until after the season. As for "unofficially", who knows.
September 28, 200521 yr I read somewhere that Lou Pinella has been paid out by the Devil Rays and could be the top target of the Marlins if Jack moves on. It'd make sense since he wouldn't have to relocate far from Tampa Bay. I'm not sure if it would be the right move though. He's a great manager and he knows his stuff but he's kinda explosive, and if the players do want a people person as a manager (unless it was just A.J going overboard with his rant) then he may not be the best choice.
September 28, 200521 yr Has McKeon even been fired yet? Let's not get ahead of ourselves. My list if he is fired: Jim Leyland Lou Piniella Tony Pena Carlos Tosca Freddy Gonzalez Boog Sciambi
September 28, 200521 yr Has McKeon even been fired yet? Let's not get ahead of ourselves. First of all he's not going to be "fired". He will retire and move into a front office position if he wants it. Secondly how exactly is Lou Pinella the guy some of you want, if Jack's managing style was already rubbing some of the players the wrong way? Because wouldn't Jack be a softy compared to Lou??

First of all, the way this thread was going, it was as if Jack was already gone, that's all I was trying to say. Secondly Piniella's one of the most successful managers of our generation. He's not Jack McKeon, and at this point, from what I've read, I think that's probably enough for a lot of players.
