September 27, 200521 yr Did anyone catch it? I saw a bit and Jack seemed very emotional about Dontrelle getting a couple more wins to get the Cy Young award. He even said he has been parying for him. He also sounded very emotional about the episode with AJ yesterday. He said that AJ never approached him in private to communicate his concerns. And that he thought he had a good raport with him. He even told Craig, "you saw us before the game, we were meeting in my office and we were talking, we hugg and we even got some pictures together. . ."
September 28, 200521 yr Why is no one talking about me? How would you like it if you saw me like this next year, Ya, I didn't think so
September 28, 200521 yr I expect JP to be back next year. He'll come for cheap after a sub par year. It'll be a contract year, so expect his performance to return to past seasons.

After this season, I'd go do an extension with Pierre for those reasons...however, that requires a hell of a lot of faith.

Very true, but who's going to play centerfield for the fish in '07 if Pierre has a year in line with his career norms and prices himself out of our range? Living year to year is certainly catching up with this team's chance to stay competitive.

Give us a better hitting coach and we won't see another extended slump.

September 28, 200521 yr JP has leg problems? Since when? I jsut remeber him having a strained calf in the beginning of the season because of spring training.
September 28, 200521 yr JP had leg problems? Since when? I jsut remeber him having a strained calf in the beginning of the season because of spring training. Calf problems, but recurring calf problems. He broke his pinky last season, I believe he's twinged his hammy once or twice, and his relentless work-out schedule certainly lends itself to injury and physical breakdowns.

I dont know why people dont think Aguila can get the job done in CF, but almost demand that Willingham be the starting LF next season
September 28, 200521 yr And I am being honest. I dont know why people dont think Aguila can get the job done in CF, but almost demand that Willingham be the starting LF next season Aguila is not a starter. He's got great bat-speed and fast hands, but in the chances he got to start this year (for the better part of a week, if I recall) he showed that he simply won't be anything better than a 4th outfielder for a good team. As for Willingham. Depending on what happens with Lowell, and if Conine retires, he could be the left-fielder, but I think the team would probably be better off to try to get a veteran outfielder for next year be it Conine or a free agent and platoon Willy and Hermida next year.
September 28, 200521 yr The one good thing about speed is that it's still there even when the bat is slumping.

How about let the superior player start, who is Hermida, and let Willingham pinch hit since thats the only thing hes good at. Hermida will be the starting RF next season, Willingham possibly wont even make the team out of ST.

He hasn't gotten regular AB's, but he hasn't exactly been great when he did get regular AB's. A little friendly competition never hurt anyone's performance...I mean, look at Encarnacion's April.

We won't know who is the superior hitter until both are given sufficient ABs in the majors. You play them both and see who is deserves the spot most. Whether you like it or not Willingham will have a part on this team. Again I ask you what the hell are we going to get for a 27 year old minor leaguer that has a few dozen ABs in the major leagues? NOTHING. Get that through your thick head. Willy is here to stay.
September 28, 200521 yr Maybe Willy can take over in LF if he has a great spring training... we can then ship Lowell away and move Miggy to third base.

To trade Lowell at the end of ST we'd have to hope a team with $$$ to burn loses it's 3rd baseman for a good portion of the season. We're better off looking for a deal in the off-season when there are more options available.
