Tonight's Attendance

Miami has no excuses. The Marlins are winning and the seats are still rather empty.

Get your butts in those seats! The Marlins could draw better in Fort Myers if we added more seats to Hammond Stadium.

Just think of it as us getting 18,000 last night and today. I mean, the 26,000 last night was a nice suprise, so it kinda evens out today.

18,835 average attendance in the Padres series.

Now that's a solid number, especially considering the fact we played the worst team in the NL.

Yes! :w00t

Bring the Marlins to Lee county. J/K.

I do belive that we should average more then 20,000 a game the way this club has been playing. South Florida isn't a very good place for baseball, The stadium is horrible and the heartbeat of the area is football.

Where did the 3,000,000 people go who showed up in 93'?

slowly, but surely coming back

Kinda contradicting yourself there, huh?

SOuth Florida isn't very good for baseball, despite drawing well over 2,000,000 fans a years for what, 4-5 years? The new ownership needs to instill trust in everyone of the S. Fla fans (including myself) before he gets everyone back. I have nothing against Jeff, but he won't for the life of him comment on next year, which makes me wonder.

no other city in america has gone through the crap Miami has gone through (including 94 strike, post-97 firesale)

Umm... The other 29 teams went through the '94 strike, too... :p

Boston: Bill Buckner, Bucky Dent, Babe Ruth to the Yankees and 1918, need i say more? and all the strikes

Chicago: Black sox scandal, white sox havent won since 1917 or something like that. Cubs havent won since 1908 and all the strikes of course

LA: Watts in the 60's, LA in '92 and lost two football teams and the strikes

and of course New York, obviously not baseball wise but its gone through crap, bad smelly crap

but i see where youre going with this

lol..Boston, Chicago, LA...they all went through a lot....but had they been in the league only 2 years before the strike happened? Did they have a firesale after a World Series title, 5 years after the team was created? No.

Good point(s).

So your saying south florida is a good baseball town. :banghead

1 year of great attendance doesn't make a baseball town. If this was a good baseball town Pro Player stadium wouldn't have resembled a ghost town last year. If this was a good baseball town then 1 single fan wouldn't have had to purchase 15,000 tickets just so the hometeam wouldn't be last in attendance.

If this was a good baseball town then we wouldn't be third to last in attendance.

You can't magically build a baseball town in 10 years, especially if you take apart an amazing team. NOW, if that team stayed together and had gotten a new stadium, we would magically be a baseball town in 10 years.

South Florida actually IS a great baseball town. A great sports town/area in general. There is a HUGE fan base to be had, which was shown in the early years of this franchises history. IF Loria can regain that fanbase, liek he has stated, this will be a top 10/5 baseball market, easy.

WildCard,

Please look at the facts before you post. We have drawn well over 2,000,000 only once,we edged it in 97' when we should have drawn over 3,000,000.

can you guys stop with all of this whining bulls*** about the firesale, and that management should be sorry for us.

just shut up all of you, you sound like a bunch of little girls.

sooo anyways, we are in a Wild Card race. So fans aren't showing up. Worse has happened.

attendance is improving, im not too worried

Most of the team who lead MLB in attendance have a rich baseball tradition. You can't expect a franchise been around for 10 years to just build up a fan base comparable to others considering firesale '97 and years of "prospects".

you forgot flaming :p

WOOOO! Flaming! The lost art of message boards.

Hey #1 FishFan, do me a favor. Put a stadium in the actual city, a management that proves time and time again that it cares, erase the 97 firesale, and keep the attendance levels the same with all that. Then you can say Miami is not a baseball town after ten years.
