Posted September 30, 200519 yr I haven't ordered a fight since Tyson/Lewis years ago. I'm sure the price tag is around 45 - 50 bucks so I'm kind of hesitant on doing so. I was going to order the Mayweather fight but I changed my mind at the last second. So boxing fans, is it worth it? What are you predictions?
September 30, 200519 yr I hope Jones wins. He was the most exciting boxer I ever saw. There's really no one that brings me to the TV set these days, though there are still some great fights. Still, doesn't Jones keep getting knocked out in the early rounds? No way I'm laying down any cash for this.
September 30, 200519 yr jones should have stayed retired....he got beat bad his last 2 fights, losing again will destroy his legacy as the g.o.a.t. pound for pound
September 30, 200519 yr i refuse to pay for fights. i also miss my hacked Direct TV card  i do hope jones wins tho
October 2, 200519 yr didnt order it , I have read and heard Tarver won quite easily. I am of the opinion that even in his prime Jones would have had problems with Tarver who is big (6ft 3) for a 175lbers, a southpaw , and techincally sound. I do give Jones credit for the last couple years despite the fact he has lost to tarver and Johnson because the guy despite all of his flash fought a safety first style more often than not against handpicked opponents and he stepped up and showed some guts. Now he needs to retire , Taver moves on to a third match with Johnson!
October 2, 200519 yr I watched it and here are some very noticable facts from the fight: 1. Roy was just trying not to get knocked out and did not want to mix it up, the last two fights are clearly in his head 2. Roy clearly is not the Roy of old, however, he still has amazing hand speed and power and could have given Tarver trouble if he tried 3. A prime Roy is a much better talent than Tarver, and I am convinced he would have easily handled him in his prime and anyone who would like to argue, go watch the videos of his hand speed and reflexes of his old fights 4. It was a highly non-entertaining fight. Roy easily could have taken the fight to Tarver and usually got the better of the exchanges when he chose to mix it up. He clearly won rounds 4 and 5 when he took the fight to Tarver and acted as the aggressor, however, those were the only rounds he attempted to use this strategy. 5. Tarver won with a technically sound fight plan. However, he almost won the fight by default as Roy barely threw any punches. He did not overly impress either.
October 2, 200519 yr the fight sucked... Roy just wanted to make sure he didnt get knocked out... so in that case, job well done

"I'll be back," promised Roy Jones Jr. "I got hurt once and I think that was the turning point of the fight. He hit me with a good shot. But I kept coming. Can't nobody else beat me but Tarver. Why? Because God blessed me with a true talent.....I was hard to go out like I would have being knocked out twice the last couple of times. I?m a true champion. I?ve been at the top. Being the champion that I am, it was good. I was satisfied with my performance, but I do realize that I lost the fight. I?m not the kind of fighter, like Johnson that can brawl. And that?s the way you have to fight to beat Tarver. Tarver would have given me all I could handle in my best days as a light heavyweight."Sunday, October 2 2005   No need to argue Jones confirmed my point end of story , btw Jones even in his prime had trouble with tall southpaw's check out is fight with Eric Harding who had to quit due to injury the fight was basically an even fight till that point
October 2, 200519 yr Tarver wins the series and Glen Johnson won his comeback fight the night earlier, paves way for HBO to charge another 50 bucks for that trilogy. Â Tarver wins and moves up to Heavy to make the big money before retiring.
October 4, 200519 yr I saw the whole fight... It was quite sad watching Jones fight... I don't know if he's just lost it at this point but he really didn't show any heart the entire fight... He had resigned himself to losing but just didn't want to get knocked out again...

If you watched after, Max Kellerman kind of laughed that comment off as well.
