You should be dissapointed with only 2 wins! This is a PLAYOFF team. Playoff teams don't have 2-4 road trips.

You all have pretty demanding expectations. I won't say they're unreasonable, but they're up there.

 

Winning on the road is just hard, no matter who you are or where you play. Take a look around the league--there are three teams with what I would call a good road record--Seattle, the Yanks, and Atlanta. That's it.

 

I don't care if we are a "playoff team" or not...you have to expect San Fran to take at least 2 from even the best teams. If we can actually win that series, it would be tremendous.

 

I hope to win the COL series, but it won't be easy. I'd be very happy with a 2-1 in that series.

That's assuming the Phils go 7-2 over their next nine, which seems unlikely, consider they're hitting the road too.

Yes, this is a 9 game road trip for your team with the last 3 being in Pittsburgh, but the Marlins should take 2 of 3 from them...if not a sweep

 

as far as the 6 vs the Giants and Rockies, I was unbias and thought they'd go 3-3.

 

The Rockies have the best home record in the ML, the RBI leader, one of the best first basemans in the game and a couple other guys who silently get the job done. Rest assured, the Phillies made that Tsao guy look like a cy young candidate and scored 4..FOUR runs in the last 2 games of the Rockies series in Colorado..ouch

 

As for SF, the only guy in the lineup that scares you is obviously Barry Bonds - I wondered how this team won so many games, their pitching is decent, its above average, more so with Ponson now, despite his struggling start in the NL. But, you have some 50 year old (Grissom) starting in center who is hitting like .330 and other key role players. You look at these two teams (rockies/giants) lineups and you fear the Rockies lineup more than the Giants. But, to my surprise, the Giants played extremely well fundamently in their series vs the Phils and took 2-3 as the Phils went 2-4 through Col/SF

 

including the last game of the 4 game series at the Vet vs the Padres (loss), the 6 games in Col and SF and the first game vs the Brewers at the vet (loss) - the Phillies lost 6 of 8 games, and that is where the Marlins gained all their ground so quickly. Now, it's the marlins turn to go through these trenches. If the Marlins go 2-4 like the Phillies did, the Phillies will likely take at least 2 of 3 from the Brewers and after sweeping the cards, who knows. The cardinals could be 1.5 or 2.5 back by the time those 6 games are up (i'm hoping). Tough stretch here for you guys.

The Marlins have been good about obliterating unfavorable historical trends. They'll try curbing another when they begin a nine-game trip at Colorado on Tuesday.

 

Since 1996, the Marlins are 8-25 at Coors Field. From Denver the Marlins head to San Francisco, where they have lost 24 of their past 30 games at 3Com and Pacific Bell ballparks over that same stretch.

 

Though the Rockies dropped to four games under .500 after Sunday's loss at New York, they are tied with the Giants for the second-most home victories in the National League (41). Sixty-seven percent of the Rockies' 61 wins have come at Coors Field.

 

"Some of the worst years they've had there, they've always played really well at home," said Todd Hollandsworth, a member of the Rockies from 2000-02. "It's a good place to live. It's a good place to play. The fans get into it. They've just figured out how to win at home. They know in their minds what they have to do to win every day. They don't give away at-bats.

 

"They believe they can win at home, bottom line, just like we believe we can beat anybody."

 

The Rockies are pacing the NL with a .302 home average, .380 on-base and .516 slugging percentages. Only the Braves (92) have totaled more homers in their home park than the Rockies (86). They've scored 403 runs at home, 95 more than the league average.

 

"From an offensive standpoint we felt like we were never out of any game," said Juan Pierre, who was acquired from Colorado in the offseason. "We'd get down 4-0, 5-0 in about the second or third inning, and we knew we were going to come back. That confidence level at home was so great because it was such a good place to hit in. We knew also that the pitcher was scared to pitch there. They weren't comfortable."

 

The Marlins are 29-30 on the road and can set the franchise mark for season road victories by winning 13 of their final 22 away games.

 

"It's a different team than [the ones]that have played out there in the past," said manager Jack McKeon, who is 12-7 at Coors Field. "I go back to the same theory. If we have to face [Jason] Schmidt in San Francisco, yeah, we can beat him, but you're going to have your hands full. If we have [brad] Penny out there like he pitched the other night, they're going to have their hands full. It comes down to who gets the breaks."

Well philly is playing against milwaukee which is one of the easiest teams in the world while were playing the rock's at coors,so i think were in trouble.

Don't the Fish still have 6 or 9 games left agisnt Philly in Sept? No use in worrying about Philly now, it'll all come down to those head-to-head match-ups.
