Get paid to take surveys

Featured Replies

I never really believed in these opportunities, but it turns out they are legitimate (depending on where you go). I recently signed up with www.surveycenter.com and tried out a few corresponding surveys. A couple of weeks ago I took several of them, each with a 1 or 2 dollar prize, and kind of forgot about the website until tonight. I'm really bored right now so I was going through my 'favorites' and went back to the site. I logged in and I found out that I had a 12 dollar credit waiting for me :D

I just updated my billing address and I should get a check within the next 2-4 weeks. I think I spent a total of one hour taking these surveys (and it was very late at night, so it's not like I wasted my time).

I dunno, free money for my opinions...And not just that, but some of the surveys are interesting and delve into future product lines such as concept vehicles, home improvement, and much more. My only qualm is that there isn't a damned 'reference' feature so that if I get someone to sign up with them, I get extra money. Oh well, still a good little bit of spending cash.

Just thought I would share that with you pessimistic folk. I know several of you have tried those bogus 'free ipod' scams and what not. But this is a great way to earn a little cash on the side, and find out about interesting stuff. Some of the surveys are dull and boring, but some are rather impressive.

Free iPods.com is not a scam I have a relative and a freind who have gotten a legit iPod through that site.

It's not a scam, perse....but you have to sign up for SIX different offers and then you get it.

And one of the offers has to be a credit card.

well, in effect, they are also paying you to fill your inbox with spam and fill your physical mailbox with junk mail.

it's easy to use a designated spam email account, but you won't exactly be able to avoid looking at the pounds of junk you'll start getting from the post office.

I used to do this and never got anything in my mailbox...

However, I did use my cousin's address :)

That just means 6 cancellations. They didnt pay a dime.

You have to be carefull with the credit card offers. A lot of people don't realize this but having a lot of revolving accounts looks really bad on your credit score. Short-term accounts look twice as bad. The best thing you can ever do is get a credit card when you turn 18 and never close it. If you think that the rate you are paying is too high, just call them up and tell them you would like to close your account because your rate is too high - they will ALWAYS offer to lower the rate. Do this once a year and you will end up with a better rate than you would qualify for if you had opened and closed accounts.

I know some of you think you don't care about your credit score but just wait until after college when you need to buy a car or a house!

You think getting a free ipod or $12 makes it worth it? Check this out - if you buy a $150,000 house and get a 30 year mortgage, what do you think the difference is between qualifying for a rate of 7% verses a rate of 7.5%? It's only 1/2% right? Yeah, that extra 1/2% will end up costing you over $18,300 over the life of the loan! If it is the difference between 7% and 8%? You are talking $37,000.

But wait - it get's better! Let's say you put the $50.87 that you were saving in the first example each month into a low yield 4% CD. After 30 years, that investment would be worth over $35,300 plus the $18,300 you saved means that the 1/2% cost you over $53,600! You don't even want to know the math on the second example...
