I don't think Preston Wilson would have the same type of success if he played in Florida this year. His strengths really fit in with coors. Also I don't have as much optimism as you have with Redman taking the hill. Tomorrows game is going to be a high scoring affair IMO.

Preston was a great playa in a Marlins Uni... but now he is in coors and could be a HALL OF FAMER...

 

i wish em da best luck, but watching JP this year we didnt get da short end da deal..... i say we got the better part the deal.... we saved $$$$$ on some dead beat hitters who couldnt really hit that well and WASHED UP Charles Johnson...

Yea, thats because Livan pitched 2 of those games taking them into the 8-9 inning each time... Vazquez also had a CG shutout... just wait until that bullpen kicks into more games... they will start blowing the games more.

You could do that with any team. Somebody could look at the Marlins and say "Come on man, Almanza? Hollandsworth? I don't even want to look at that roster..." You could look at the Expos roster and say "Vlad, Vidro, Cabrera - that team's going all the way." You'd be wrong if you said that by looking at the stars on the team just like you're wrong for ignoring them.

 

I don't think they have enough to win the WC. They had to travel too much, their pitching staff's been injured, and their bullpen is terrible. But they are catching up.

 

I think the race is going to come down to whoever stays the healthiest.

As a philies fan I was really disapointed with the Phils losing. But if we lose the wild card to you guys, I would not be all that upset. Just promise me one thing, if you make it to the playoffs, sweep the Braves out of it.

If the Wild Card comes out of the East, the Braves will play the Central champs in the first round and the Wild Card will play the Giants (assuming the Giants win the division and have a better record than the Central division champs).

 

The division winner with the best record plays the Wild Card in the first round, unless they're in the same division.

No ACTUALLY, the Hollandsworth does not belong in AAA. He's a good role player and is serviceable. What I meant was, the Expos have quite a bit of players, that otherwise on other teams contending for the WC or even some regular teams, alot of their players would be in AAA.

 

The Marlins really have 1 guy that belongs in AAA. Thats Almanza.

 

Since you challenged me, I had to do the gruelling task of looking at the Expos roster. What a way to start my day.

 

#1 at the top of the list you have the great HECTOR ALMONTE. AAA player of the year.

 

#2 Roy Corcoran, genuine AAA material

 

#3 Erick Knott- vintage AAA

 

#4 TJ Tucker - another vintage AAA

 

#5 Jamey Carroll -should retire in AAA but lucked out with expos

 

#6 Edwards Guzman- translated in english means AAA!

 

#7 Ron Callaway- dont go there (obp a whooping .282!)

 

#8 Vitellelo? common, that guy was washed up long ago

you cant possibly find that many obvious AAA players in the marlins. These are players that are a DEFINITE farm material for just about any other contending team. Yea they have a couple of exceptional players, but they dont have a major league squad. Youre giving Montreal too much credit and you've ruined my morning by making me look this all up. Besides Vlad, Vidro, Cabrera, Livan, Vazquez and a couple of others, this team makes Detroit look good.

 

also dont forget the EXCEPTIONAL britt reams and fernando tatis.. man those guys really sucked... but they are not on the squad now so did not qualify.

Too Funny, Actually if you force them to put the ball on the ground and actually put some thought into your pitches you will be ok.

 

Coors is SO over rated when it comes to hitting also have you ever heard of Chacon. Yeah he was supposed to be The Nl Starter in The AS game. He pitched in coors.

Ok...The Expos are not going to make the polaayoffs ever again while they play in Montreal. I still don't consider the 'Spos a team to worry about. Until proven otherwise they are just another team to me. Frank Robinson is a big part of this, and when you look at their line-up, they are good enough to be over .500. But are they good enough to pass the Marlins and the Phils? No. Is their rotation of Livan and Vazquez and some players some haven't even heard of better than Redman-Willis-Penny-Beckett-Pavano? No. Is it better than Millwood-Wolf-Padilla-Myers and whatever AAA pitcher the Phils are using now? No. Now, if the Expos had Orlando Hernandez I think they would be just as close to the WC as the Marlins. El Duque getting hurt really upset their season. However, if the Marlins drop out of the race I will be rooting for the Expos to win the WC! Wow! Woudn-t it be funny if we had a Royals-Expos world series? I think, however, that I'd rather see a Royals-Marlins world series!
