Two straight sweeps by the AL in the World Series.

I think both the Cards and the Astros stunk, but perhaps the 2003 Marlins were just too good.

It may be true. Who knows. Obviously, the best team in baseball the last two years has been from the AL. The flaws of both the Cardinals and Astros were obvious. No offense for the Astros. And no starting pitching depth for the Cardinals (and, quite honestly, they're kind of pussies). The White Sox are a complete team. The Marlins of 2003 were a complete team. Those are the teams that win.

the White Sox offense was about equal to the astros...the last three games were really close and the series could've just as easily been 3-1 Astros right now...

This makes it 3 straight years that the WS was clinched on the road.

The White Sox offense is better than the Astros. They're more clutch. The Astros get on base and then never get a hit. They get tons of walks, only to strand them. That's not going to cut it. This is the World Series.

Um, how did the Cardinals and the Astros stink? You dont represent a league and suck, its that simple. They just got beat by better (obviously) teams.

Indeed. Red Sox were a hell of a team. People can laugh at the Cards and Stros for the sweeps and rightfully so but they didnt stink. You dont stink doing what you do. They just got outplayed in the biggest series of the year. Doesnt change all the fun times the teams have had.

Dont be surprised to see Houston and St. Louis battling it out again next year. Well there's obviously gonna be retooling but these two teams arent jokes even if the last two years in the W.S. it shows. These two teams are gonna battle it out for the Central and maybe even the pennant again, ya never know.

I'll gladly take the 'pussies' we have on the Cards.. It wasnt the pitching that was the problem this year.. it's been the hitting the last two years in the biggest stages..

Congrats on a heck of a year Houston!! :notworthy

And if these two teams stink, then just how pathetic is the NL? Seriously?

The cardinal red & navy blue and the aukward brick red and tan are going to take a back seat to teal black and silver next season and show how to git er done in the WS.

Sorry, IMO this was the Astros last chance for awhile.

Im not tooting the Sox's horn, but after what that team did, to their rival, and how they did it...It would have been hard for the NL All-Stars to have beaten them that series.

Nah, I agree.. That was an amazing comeback.. Dont know who could have beat the Sox after that.. :p

For some reason, I just didn't see the current Cardinals team winning the World Series. They just seem to play tentatively in the playoffs. They don't have the heart of a champion. To be honest, I think Ozzie's presence in the clubhouse in 2003 contributed to the Marlins' heart and determinatino.

I think the astros overachieved ... and it tells you how much pitching wins

Astos just needed a big bat (2004 Beltran would have been nice). Pitching was there, just no offense

My point from the beginning, the NL sucks lately. They allowed two weak teams to make it to the WS.

Further proof the NL sucks: The San Diego Padres making it to the playoffs. :confused

The NL is much weaker than the AL but i wouldn't say that the Astros and the Cardinal stunk. They simply got beat by very hot teams. Both the Sox got really hot The Red Sox did when they beat the Yanks 4 straight and the White Sox got really hot that last week of the season and they kept it going.

I heard an interesting comparison on XM yesterday. If you look back to the 60's, the NL dominated the AL. Why? Because they more quickly adopted black players which were quite talened.

So why is AL better than NL these days? AL has more quickly brought in Latin players.

Maybe it's just me but I dont see that big(if any) of a discrepency of #'s of latin players in each league.

The better team obviously won the WS but it could have been much more competitive, I mean if the Stros score TWO runs in game 4 they take that game.

I think offensively both teams stink and the big difference between the two is Paul Konerko, Stros needed to counter with another smasher of thier own like QuickGold said.

The White Sox simply have better players than the Stros' overall that is why they won not because they are clutch or that they have a heart of a champion or any of that overstated, conceptual stuff. Also too, Houston seemed to really misexecute, I mean a game-winning HR from Pods.... yikes.

Which means that the last team in the NL to win a WS game was the Marlins! :notworthy
