with Carson Daly.

Weeknights at 1:30 after Conan.

He just got a permanent studio in LA. It's obvious that NBC is grooming him to take over Late Night after Conan moves to the Tonight Show in 2-3 years.

I like him. Many people only see him as the MTV VJ, but he's become a very amicable, easy going guy. He is fluid, improvised and seems to be handlin his fame pretty well. I for one am surprised that he's still around. If you look at other MTV VJs who made the leap to mainstream, nobody else has done as well as him in the past 10 (?) years.....except that guy on Dinner and a Movie (that's a different story)

Anyway, what's everyone's take on this?

I definitely agree. When I first heard of this show I thought it would be a joke. But he uses his years of interviews as a skill and really gives some of the best late night show interviews around.

He also usually has alot of good comics do a stand up routine as well.

I think his show is horrible. Its almost painful to watch him.

Well considering he made the switch to LA just a few days ago, I somehow find it hard to believe that you've seen enough of it to judge so harshly.

He's okay as an interviewer. He's not your typical late night host in that he's funny, but he's allright.

I like Ferguson more, when I can actually see him. But, I really got out of watching the Late Night scene quickly. I watched all the Late Night I could (from Dave flipping to Leno, depending on the guest, and then watching Conan) from high school to about two years ago.

Occasionally I'll catch a show, but Daly isn't the tops of what I'd like to see.

Well it's going to take some time for Carson to become truly comfortable in the studio-style setting. He's used to his crummy, half hour show in which he has unimportant guests and crappy dialogue.

NBC made the move to give him a long show (it's an hour now I believe), with guest bands, and significant guests (Kellie Griffith last night, Smash Mouth was the house band)....Anyway, Conan is going to take over for Leno in 2008, I believe (not entirely sure but it is around then), so they are grooming Carson to become their new Late Night guy..

Right now 'Last Call' is on at about 1:35 I think, so it's geared for the younger audience. But give Daly some credit. He has done remarkable things thus far in his career for a 32 year old. I wouldn't be surprised if he's the next Tonight Show host once Conan is done (Carson is 10 years younger).

He does some good interviews but his monologue is awful. Getting a permanent studio in LA will certainly help the show

But I barely catch him, the only reason i ever stay up until 1:30 is to cram for a test the next day

He's meh.

It's not as bad as I thought the show would be, but not great either. That's sort of his problem.... he's not awful but that's about it. Not particularly funny or charismatic or entertaining. I'll give you "amicable".

Never know though, it took Conan a while to get going too.

I already rank him above Jimmy Kimmel. :p

You seem way too sensitive about the issue...do you have a Carson crush? Seriously though, you're right I havent seen the show in LA. Ive seen his show plenty of times when he had his NY studio. He has been on air for about 3-4 years now doing his late night. IMO he just sucks and must still suck. Maybe I have to check out his LA show, maybe its better, I dont know.
