November 24, 200520 yr Author Gimme Ohman, Pinto and Marshall and I'm in for it I will be okay with that but please!!!!please get Guzman. Hold out for Guzman Beinfest.
November 24, 200520 yr Author I'd give them Pierre, Villone, and Mota for Murton. SPike no offense but most of your trades don't make sense. Why would the cubs take on all that salary? and why would we thyey give up Murton who is cheap and a very good prospect for Pierre and take on Villone bad contract?
November 24, 200520 yr The Cubs are deficient in the bullpen. Mota is arby this year, so is Pierre(a true leadoff man for them), and this is the last year on Villone's contract. It's more foolish on our part to give up 3 guys that are MLB quality for a guy that is still widely considered a prospect.
November 24, 200520 yr Your trades are ridiculous Spike. They have enough problems in the OF, they're not going to trade one who is MLB ready. And they've signed Dempster, Eyre and Howry. They don't need Villone or Mota.

It's more foolish on our part to give up 3 guys that are MLB quality for a guy that is still widely considered a prospect. If its so foolish for us why did you propse it? face it Cubs will never make this deal. Lets try and be realistic here. All reports have been saying Renyo Pinto for awhile its the other 2 that are unknown. Here is and old artical and possible names mentioned. I posted it on this site a week ago. Juan Pierre To The Cubs: Update Yesterday, Bruce Levine reported that the Cubs are in the "final stages" of a trade for Marlins center fielder Juan Pierre. This afternoon, I was able to get in touch with Bruce to obtain a little more info on the deal. It seems that the Marlins are still a little shaky on this deal; they're not sure whether to hold out and target top-tier prospects or to pull the trigger now just to dump Pierre's salary. Also, Levine confirmed that Rich Hill will not be part of any deal for Pierre. Levine said the Marlins are indeed looking for young pitching. As a refresher, here are some top hurlers from the Cubs' minor league system who may be available: Jae-kuk Ryu Ricky Nolasco Sean Marshall Renyel Pinto Angel Guzman Chicago's recent trade history with Florida has had mixed results. Most would agree the Cubs made out like bandits getting Derrek Lee for Hee Seop Choi, but that trade was motivated very much by salary concerns. The Marlins' unloading of Matt Clement and Antonio Alfonseca for Dontrelle Willis worked out in their favor, although Clement was an integral part of the Cubs' 2003 playoff run.
November 24, 200520 yr Author From what I've heard, Pinto is closest to MLB ready. He has very good stuff but not very good control yet. At times he has 3 + pitches working for him. If we acquyire him I would rank him 6-7 in my top 10 prospect list. 1)Hermida 2)Ramirez 3)Olsen 4)Sanchez 5)Petit 6)Pinto 7)Voldstad 8)Johnson 9)Thompson 10)West
November 24, 200520 yr I'd be interested in acquiring Cedeno as our future 2B... but I'm not sure how motivated they'd be to move him. Sounds like they're going to go with him at SS if they don't get Furcal.. and if they do get Furcal, they're going to move him to 2B and trade Walker... but you never know since Dusty and the front office has some weird man crush on Neifi Perez.

Only way I see us getting Cedeno from the Cubs is if Castillo is heading over to Chicago in return. But yes it will be nice. Cedeno is suppose to be an excellent fielding SS which should allow him make a easy transition to 2B. We can have a Ramirez-Cedeno double play tandum for many years to come if where lucky. Though i prefer to hold on to Castillo for now.
November 24, 200520 yr Author Pinto Info. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18. RENYEL PINTO, lhp, West Tenn Diamond Jaxx (Cubs) Age: 23 Ht: 6-4 Wt: 190 B-T: L-L Drafted/Signed: Cuba FA '99 (Venezuela) After leading the SL in ERA and strikeouts last year, Pinto began 2005 in Triple-A and got hit hard before being sent back to West Tenn. He quickly returned to his 2004 form, though he still struggled to find the strike zone from time to time. That has always been the knock on Pinto, who has very good stuff but doesn't know how to command it. He possesses three plus pitches: a 91-94 mph fastball, a mid-80s slider and a deceptive changeup with good sink and fade. "He has as good an arm as there is in the league," Snitker said. "Pinto's stuff is as good as any of them, but he's just erratic." G GS W L SV ERA IP H R ER HR BB SO AVG 22 21 10 3 0 2.71 129.2 101 43 39 3 58 123 .223 13. He got attention this season, however, winning the league ERA (2.92) and strikeout (179 in 142 innings) titles in his first shot at Double-A and earning a late promotion to Triple-A, where he pitched well in the Pacific Coast League playoffs. One scout said Pinto was the second-best pitcher in the league behind Capellan. Managers liked his arm strength and he showed electric stuff at times, featuring a lively 92-94 mph fastball that moved everywhere. His changeup was probably his second-best pitch, and he also showed a good feel for pitching and a competitive approach. Pinto does need to cut down on his walks, but scouts said he can be effectively wild and could dial down his fastball a bit if needed to gain better control. "He could pitch at 90 or lower with that kind of movement and be successful," one said. 6. RENYEL PINTO, lhp Age: 22 B-T: L-L Ht: 6-4 Wt: 195 Signed: Venezuela, 1999 Signed by: Alberto Rondon Background: Pinto went 21-31, 4.22 over his first five pro seasons and spent 2001-03 in Class A before he broke out last season. He led the Double-A Southern League in ERA and strikeouts, and was the Cubs? minor league pitcher of the year. Strengths: Pinto?s best pitch is a plus changeup with good deception, sink and fade. His lively 92-94 mph fastball darts in and out of the strike zone. He may throw harder as he fills out his lanky frame, and even if he doesn?t, hitters have trouble picking up his pitches from his low three-quarters delivery. His slider shows flashes of becoming a third above-average pitch. Weaknesses: Pinto?s biggest need is to keep his fastball in the zone, because when hitters don?t chase it he gives up too many walks. He needs added consistency with his slider. Some scouts think his stuff grades better than he pitches and question whether he can win in the majors without better command. The Future: Pinto will return to the Triple-A Pacific Coast League after pitching well there in the playoffs. Chicago has several lefty relief options, so he?ll probably stay in the Iowa rotation all year. 2004 Club (Class) W L ERA G GS CG SV IP H HR BB SO AVG West Tenn (AA) 11 8 2.92 25 25 0 0 142 107 10 72 179 .213 Iowa (AAA) 1 1 7.71 2 2 0 0 9 9 2 8 9 .250

November 24, 200520 yr Author PLEASE GIMME MARSHALL AND PETRICK IN ANY DEAL Petrick has loads of potential and marshall is nasty. I agree with you about Marshall and Petrick has lots of potential but Petrcik I believe had an arm injury this year and take a look at his # http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil..._pbp&pid=459336
November 24, 200520 yr 11/22 Though they've apparently missed out on Josh Beckett, the Dodgers still hope to take advantage of the Marlins' fire sale, perhaps with a Juan Pierre or Carlos Delgado acquisition. Dodgers GM Ned Colletti spoke Monday with Marlins GM Admin Beinfest, who he said was "thinking about moving a few different players ? and he knows what our interest is." It doesn't appear that Paul Lo Duca will return to Los Angeles -- catcher is no longer a need in the organization -- but perhaps something can get done. The Dodgers certainly have enough prospects with which to entice the Marlins. Courtesy of Rotoworld. Dodgers have a better system....Could maybe make more sense. Tiffany, Martin and Broxton would be nice. Martin could be a possibily if this deal doenst get done. They have Navarro in the pros who is young and did good last year. Martin and Broxton/Tiffany would be perfect
November 24, 200520 yr They won't trade Pie.. They're just using Pierre as a stop gap until Pie is ready.
November 24, 200520 yr GIMME MARTIN!!!!! Forget about the Cubs deal and lets talk with the Dodgers about Martin. DO IT!!!!
