November 25, 200520 yr In the last few days, the trades involving Beckett, Delgado, Lowell, and Mota, our payroll for next year has been slashed by quite a bit. Assuming that no other major players are traded (even though this probably isn't the case), and figuring in what we still owe Pudge and Leiter, etc., what is our current payroll at?

Assuming that no other major players are traded (even though this probably isn't the case), and figuring in what we still owe Pudge and Leiter, etc., what is our current payroll at? what's the point of keeping any of the vets who make money? They won't want to be here with our young team, and we aren't going anywhere with them or without them. Castillo, Pierre, and Lo Duca's trade values are not going to get any higher than they are right now.
November 25, 200520 yr current payroll seems to be about 1 million dollars, a sack of marbles, a couple baseball cards and one dead bird named Petey... is it true all Marlin games in 2006 will be day games so the kids can all be asleep by bedtime?

November 25, 200520 yr These prospects that we are recieveing are amazing! I kind of hope that we trade Lo Duca and maybe Juan (but I hope that we keep Luis, he has been with the organization since he was 16) because the Marlin front office is one of the smartest and most creative in the majors! I honestly believe that the Marlins (where ever they will be playing at) will be contenders once again in about 5 years. (which may seem like a long time, but hey, the Cubs have been waiting for about 100 years, we can wait 5)
November 25, 200520 yr I guess we dont have to worry about the marlins moving with all the moves they have made they have just made enough money to make up the difference in funding . No doubt Loria , who is committed to having the team in South Florida will funnel some of the huge profits he will be making this year and invest in the long term viability of the team by buidling a stadium :thumbup

November 25, 200520 yr Should the Marlins really trade LoDuca? He's making some change, but he's a great "clubhouse guy" and with a young team you're going to need that veteran leadership. It seems like the pitching staff is going to be young, and a guy like LoDuca could really help the kids along. Then you throw in that Molina, Hernandez, Toby Hall and Estrada are all available, you see it's not the best year to deal a cather. Even though Louie's the better player, I see LoDuca being more "valuable".
November 25, 200520 yr If we have to pick between LoDuca and Castillo then I keep Castillo in a heartbeat. I think only JP and Villone are really left to go though.
November 25, 200520 yr Are you kidding me, Castillo is what, 25? He is for sure in our long term plans.
November 25, 200520 yr Are you kidding me, Castillo is what, 25? He is for sure in our long term plans. Actually, he's 30.
November 25, 200520 yr Still, Louie is part of this team, not many second basemen defend the way this guy does. Most are just there, and get what comes to them, this guy fetching everything, it's like having two shortstops even when he is hurt.

November 25, 200520 yr LOL, yea dude, for some reason, I thought he was, and was sure, you know, time flys, wow.
