It appears before the team headed back east to Pittsburgh the Marlins stop in Las Vegas per J. Loria orders. The owner wanted the team to have some fun and relax a little. :D

Also I found this quotes from Loria as they were leaving SF...

As the Florida Marlins boarded a bus that would take them to San Francisco International Airport, owner Jeffrey Loria turned to a clubhouse attendant at Pacific Bell Park and said: "See you in September."

We'll be back here this year,'' Loria said before heading to Pittsburgh, where his team opens a three-game series Tuesday

scared me....I thought you were gonna say the latest rumor was that the Marlins could possibly move to Las Vegas...which would be hilarious with the whole Pete Rose controversy

nice to hear the owner gave them some time off....

i bet Fox and Mordy won big at the roulette tables.... lucky bitches...lol

No, but now that you brought it. I enjoy how sure Brain Fillet was that the Expos would be going to DC next year and now today. Oregon has pretty mush approve a new stadium for Baseball in Portland.

I thought it was something about Lowell going to that Slugger Challenge that they have in the offseason in Vegas.

Expos will be in Montreal for 2004. CFCF and RDS have offered the team a good TV contract for next season. I doubt the split home fields will be tried again.

That's too bad, even though their attendance is nothing special in PR at least they get people in PR. Plus the team wanted PR.

Great attitude for Loria and we are in this hunt! We cant get down and start losing. Thats a good idea for the team to relax a little bit and get away from baseball.

P.R. in august and sept. is not a good idea

They got a nice 35,001 tonight in the Big O. That is great for a Monday Night Promotion game, now if only Miami could realize they have a wildcard leading team? Do any of our Marlins employees that stroll this board (1truefan) have any info on the tickets sold for the Labor Day Weekend Series vs. Montreal?

Yeah but people come when you have $5 tickets and $1 hot dogs.

35,001 on a Monday, hey Loria! We have low ticket prices, but cheaper food and drinks would be nice. Bring back the Coca-Cola $10 Real Deal. Remember what it was? Outfield reserve, peanuts, hot dog, 20 oz. coke and a copy of the Herald. Something like that would win over many fans who want the complete baseball experience.

I wonder if anyone went to the Bunny Ranch down there in vegas or even circus circus

did you just compare the Bunny Ranch and Circus Circus?

:lol

Smart move by Loria. Get their minds off baseball a little, maybe even off the Phillies. You know they don't and won't say it, but the Phillies have got to be on every Marlin players mind. I'd be watching them like a hawk.

Phillies and the other 5 teams....

I doubt it would be possible for the Expos to play in Hiram Bithorn Stadium full time. Puerto Rico is right in the heat of tropical depression developments.(Although this season has been relatively quiet.). In August in Sempter, who knows what could happen.

Actually, Puerto Rico isn't in the heat of developments...It's prone to get hit by more serious storms(Tropical Storms,Hurricanes.)

Phillies and the other 5 teams....

I don't worry about the teams behind us, because they're exactly that-- behind.

The marlins already got $2 tickets all season long... are you kidding me? hot dogs are like $2.50 or something, and same with the coke.. it should come out to less than 6$ everyday for the cheap fan. the only problem is parking.

Hey, we should do more gimics with 1 dollar hot dogs! We dont get any money off of em anyway! All we get money off is ticketsales. No parking. No concessions.

hot dogs are atleast $4.50 and the kosher ones are $5.50

Is it up to Wayne when we want to do the $1 hotdog night or does Loria have to buy them first then do the promotion?
