December 8, 200520 yr The Marlins really would have generated a lot more sympathy if Samson just declined the interview and let Arriola look like a bully.
December 8, 200520 yr Author Arriola sounded pretty reasonable. I agree with him on two things: Selig should have stopped this firesale and that Loria should sell the team if he can't afford the losses and help finance a stadium.
December 8, 200520 yr Samson: If we had 35k a game we would have still had the firesale. Unbelievable... what a slimeball.
December 8, 200520 yr He's asking about attendance. The better question is, "You were successful and yet your attendance was moribund. Why are fans staying away?"
December 8, 200520 yr I have to appreciate his confidence in his words, but he really isn't saying the right thing here....
December 8, 200520 yr Is anyone else bothered by how Samson never does his homework? He never comes with numbers, plays the "whatever it is is what it will be" game and constantly speaks vaguely. Funny David, I'm listening on the internet and it sounds great...
December 8, 200520 yr "Why does he continually say you're lying about the money you're putting in?" Uhh...uhhm...I guess he's right about the $30 million up front part...but. :lol Great response.

Funny David, I'm listening on the internet and it sounds great... Me, too. And these guys did the same thing in Montreal. Vague generalizations, no definite data. Basically asking us to trust them without giving us a reason to.
December 8, 200520 yr The good news here is he is going out of his way to be respectful of Huizenga. He could complain about the horrendous lease he operates under and everyone would be sympathetic, but he's staying a million miles away from that.

December 8, 200520 yr from thread: "Cabrera & Willis available 'for the right price' December 6, 2005, 12:02pm, post #8 yeah, they're available if you give up like five major league players and pay for them all... Samson, when asked if he can guarantee Dontrelle Willis will be here next year: "No..... what if the Yankees say we'll give you five players and pay for them? You know?." :mischief2

I noticed that too...interesting, at the very least. :mischief2

Do you suppose thats because he is dealing with him on a stadium deal?
December 8, 200520 yr Ouch. Samson just got punked by 'Andre'. We don't have to show you our payroll if we don't want to.
December 8, 200520 yr Andre: Why don't you open the books? Samson: We don't have to. Again, he's right about it. It's a private company, therefore it doesn't have to open up it's books. This is how it works in the business world.
December 8, 200520 yr Andre: Why don't you open the books? Samson: We don't have to. Exactly the point. We don't have to prove to you that we are losing money, but we want you to build us a stadium. Disingenuous.
