December 22, 200520 yr ugh i hated A History of Violence, couldn't believe it got such great reviews... i'll get my list up shortly. ah f*** it, i might put up a list once i see King Kong.
December 22, 200520 yr 1. The 40 Year Old Virgin 2. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe 3. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 4. Syriana Sorry I don't see too many movies. :lol

Cinderella Man
December 22, 200520 yr Just ones I saw (obviously): Batman Begins Sin City Constantine Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith Aeon Flux Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Coach Carter The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Assault on Precinct 13 I didn't make it out to all the big name movies this year, and still haven't seen two I really wanted to see (Crash and Kingdom of Heaven). As far as the ten I ranked (out of I think like 17 this year), the first two were givens just a matter of how you rank them. I thought Constantine was a really good movie as was Aeon Flux (I'm a sucker for sci-fi flicks with deep undertones), all the religious symbols and the battle in Constantine won me over. Probably could have been #2 or even #1 if someone better than Keanu Reeves was Constantine, though he's kind of become "the" guy for that type of role it seems. It was hard to look at him as anyone other than Neo. CatCF was a very good twist on the old one (I liked it better than the other one, actually) and a very good model of the book as was the Chronicles of Narnia. Coach Carter was a very good movie and would have ranked higher if it wasn't the same old sports story wrapped in a different situation. SW Episode 3 was definitely the best of the prequels and is right up there with the original trilogy. HHGTTG, while not being as true to the book as CatCF and Narnia were, I found to be almost as funny and Mos Def shined again. He continues to be one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood. To round things out, I chose Assault on Precinct 13 because not only was it a good action flick (though a tad predictable), but Samuel L. Jackson is one bad mofo.
December 22, 200520 yr Forgot about Star Wars. That was probably #3. What's with all the love for Sin City? I saw it and I couldn't stand it. Not really my thing, I guess. That's all it's a matter of. I'm druink!!!1
December 22, 200520 yr Forgot about Star Wars. That was probably #3. What's with all the love for Sin City? I saw it and I couldn't stand it. Not really my thing, I guess. That's all it's a matter of. I'm druink!!!1 You have to have at least some interest in film noir to truly enjoy Sin City. I'm still amazed at the huge list of actors they were able to put together in the film.
December 22, 200520 yr 1. 40 Year Old Virgin 2. Four Brothers 3. Sin City 4. Batman Begins 5. Cinderella Man 6. Jarhead 7. Crash 8. Mr. and Mrs. Smith 9. Lord of War 10. Derailed 11. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
December 22, 200520 yr Off the top of my head..hmmm 1) Star Wars Ep III (sentimental reasons) 2) Batman Begins 3) War of the Worlds 4) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (fanatical reasons) 5) King Kong 6) Sin City (was that really 2005?) 7) Serenity 8) Chronicles of Narnia 9) Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy 10) Hitch/Mr. And Mrs. Smith
December 22, 200520 yr 1. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith The conclusion of the greatest movie saga in the history of the universe. 2. King Kong I'll probably be the only person to rate it that high, but it was incredible film-making except for the length of the part on the boat. 3. Batman Begins It's about time they made another damn Batman movie, and this one was the best. 4. Syriana Whoever wrote this movie was brilliant 5. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire I enjoyed it despite it being British I don't think I really liked enough movies this year to do 6-10.
December 22, 200520 yr 1. Batman Begins 2. Sin City 3. Serenity I don't think I could come up with 7 more movies that I would even consider GOOD. I *was* a Star Wars fanatic - Episode I introduced a festering wound, Episode II was the spread of the infection, Episode III was like lancing the boil. If there were a way to go back in time and remove these prequels from existence in order to maintain the integrity of the Star Wars legacy, I would happily do so. I was also sorely disappointed with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. There was zero character development, the story telling was downright awful, the feel of the movie was unintentionally campy, and the screenplay itself left a lot to be desired. To be honest, viewing this movie made me appreciate the Gene Wilder version THAT much more. I haven't seen Kong, Good Luck and Good Night [can?t get my fianc?e to watch this with me], or Syriana yet so there is still hope. I must say that I am eagerly anticipating the release of Munich.
December 22, 200520 yr Nobody saw Aeon Flux and/or Constantine? Saw them, Constatine was good in some parts, but the end was too effed up. I saw Aeon Flux, but I hardly ever admit to having seen it, it was pretty awful.
December 22, 200520 yr 1. Batman Begins 2. Sin City 3. Harry Potter 4. 40 Year Old Virgin 5. Star Wars 6. Wedding Crashers 7. War of Worlds A few others were good, I just can't remember what I went to
December 22, 200520 yr I haven't even seen 10 movies in 2005, most of them just didn't appeal to me at all.
December 22, 200520 yr Author Nobody saw Aeon Flux and/or Constantine? I saw Constantine. I agree with Chewy, the ending really was not as good as the first 80% of the film, left me with a bad tatse in my mouth...
December 22, 200520 yr I saw Constantine when it came out on DVD. I thought it was alright. I nearly went to see Aeon Flux, but bad reviews chased me away.
December 23, 200520 yr Saw 2 Mr and Mrs Smith Hitch and 40 yr Old was pretty good.. I also enjoyed the remake of Bad News Bears
December 23, 200520 yr Nothing has blown me away this year. Last couple years I've had some clear favorites, but nothing grabbed me this time around. I still have a few movies to see, though. From the movies other folks have listed here, I'd have to go: 1. 40 Year-Old Virgin 2. Crash 3. War of the Worlds 4. Syriana 5. Batman Begins The first three were basically the most entertaining movies for me this year. I doubt there's ever been another year where I had a comedy #1, and I'm not sure that spot will hold after I've seen Munich and Kong, but that's how it goes right now. It was just a funny movie. Crash didn't have anything particularly original to say, but it was moving and well done. War of the Worlds was just fun to watch, plus I'm a Spielberg junkie. Syriana was very smartly put together, but somtimes these ensemble movies leave you a little bit cold, and this one did. There was just no room for any emotional attachments to any of the characters, though I guess it does leave you a little angry with the world. Batman Begins was a terrific superhero flick, and maybe could have been my #1 if some of the dialogue didn't make me want to tear off my ears. It really bothers me when characters keep repeating dialogue that other charcters spoke earlier in the movie. I guess its supposed to be clever, and its supposed to help wrap up the movie in a pretty bow, but when the last 5 minutes of the movie consists of rehash dialogue, it drives me nuts. Other movies I want to see at some point: Munich, Kong, Corpse Bride, Wallace and Gromit, The Aristocrats, The New World, and Serenity.
December 23, 200520 yr You'll like Serentiy. Probably the most underrated pelicula of the year. New World will be a flop. I feel bad for Colin Farrell. Second blockbuster bust in the past 2 years for him.
December 23, 200520 yr Author Eh, now that I think of it I dont think I should have left off War of The Worlds from my top 10. Mr. and Mrs. Smith should have gotten a longer look as well for me.
December 23, 200520 yr I only saw 3 on the list. :plain 1. Cinderella Man 2. Batman Begins 3. Sin City
December 23, 200520 yr Based solely on what I've seen: Batman Begins Sin City Jarhead Syriana The Island War of the Worlds Crash Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
