Ramp is back doing the previews...can we win tonight? :mischief2

I expect a loss, just because the Marlins are having such a bad time scoring runs. Josh Beckett better pitch a shutout if he wants to win.

MIAMI (Ticker) -- The Montreal Expos seek their sixth straight victory Friday night as they open a four-game series with the Florida Marlins at Pro Player Stadium.

The Expos have won five in a row following a four-game skid and are tied with four other teams, including the Marlins, for the lead in the National League wild card race.

Montreal completed its first four-game sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies with Thursday's 4-0 win. Javier Vazquez struck out 10 in eight dominant innings and Vladimir Guerrero hit a two-run home run.

While the Expos have won 14 of their last 15 home games, they have stumbled on the road recently. They have dropped 17 of their last 21 road contests and are 25-41 on the road this year.

T.J. Tucker (0-1, 5.04 ERA) makes his fourth start of the season for Montreal. Tucker has not gotten out of the fifth inning in any of his previous starts this season. On Sunday, he allowed two runs and four hits in 4 1/3 innings and did not factor in the decision against the San Diego Padres.

The righthander is making his first career start against the Marlins and is 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA in 13 outings against them. This year, he has made four appearances against the Marlins and not allowed a run in 6 1/3 innings.

Florida is returning home after a 1-8 road trip and has won five of its last six home games.

The Marlins concluded their trip by getting just five hits against Josh Fogg and two relievers in Thursday's 5-0 loss at Pittsburgh.

Josh Beckett (6-7, 3.41), who is 1-3 with a 3.74 ERA in five starts this month, gets the baseball for Florida. Beckett gave up three runs and seven hits with six strikeouts through seven innings and took the loss Saturday at San Francisco.

The righthander has gone at least six innings in all but one of his last seven starts. Beckett is 1-0 in two appearances against Montreal this year, allowing eight hits with one walk and eight strikeouts in eight scoreless innings.

He is 3-1 lifetime against the Expos.

Shouldn't at least SOME player be hot right now? Maybe Lee I guess, but to have everyone slumping together like this....

Fish happy to be coming home

(Sports Network) - The Montreal Expos try to match a season-high with their sixth straight win, as they start a huge four-game series against the Florida Marlins tonight at Pro Player Stadium.

The Expos, who have won 11 of their last 15 games, enter tonight's action tied with four other teams, including the Marlins, atop the National League wild card standings. This is the start of a make-or-break stretch of 13 games against teams in the playoff chase. Montreal begins a six-game road trip and will visit Philadelphia next week before returning to Puerto Rico for three games against the Marlins and four versus the Cubs.

Yesterday, Javier Vazquez pitched eight scoreless innings to earn his 12th win of the season and Vladimir Guerrero belted a two- run homer, as the Expos blanked the Phillies, 4-0, to complete a four-game sweep at Olympic Stadium. The Expos will not return to Canada for home games until September 15 against Atlanta.

While the Expos are surging, the Marlins are slumping with eight losses in their last nine games. Florida was recently swept in a three-game set at Pittsburgh and was blanked in the last two contests. Last night, the Marlins lost 5-0. Juan Pierre had two hits for the Marlins, who concluded their nine- game road swing with a dismal 1-8 mark. Second baseman Luis Castillo sat out last night's contest and has a 12-game hitting streak heading into tonight's game.

The Marlins have off-the-field problems too. Backup catcher Ramon Castro was arrested, jailed and charged with four counts of sexual misconduct in connection with an alleged rape in the team's hotel early Thursday morning. Castro is scheduled to be arraigned today.

Josh Beckett will take the mound tonight for the Marlins. The righthander has one win in his last five starts (1-3) and is coming off a loss at San Francisco last Saturday, when he threw seven innings.

Beckett faces the Expos for the third time this season tonight. He has not allowed a run to Montreal in two games (one start), spanning eight innings. Beckett is 3-1 in seven lifetime games (6 starts) against Montreal.

The Expos will send T.J. Tucker to the hill tonight. The righthander will make his 40th appearance of the season, but just his fourth start and is still trying for his first win of the season. Tucker faces the Marlins for the first time as a starter.

Montreal has dropped five of its last seven road games and holds a 25-41 away mark this season.

The Marlins are 40-25 at home and have won five of their last six at Pro Player Stadium.

Florida is 7-5 versus the Expos this year, including a 5-1 mark in Miami.

BTW, the last time the Marlins had a bad road trip like this one back in May I believe, we came home and took 3 of 4 from the Expos. We eventually went on a big run which has lead us to the wildcard lead we currently have.

Beckett i think has the most Talent on the team....

This guy has pitched great his last few games but has been getting no run support.

Well, it's gonna be interesting.

The Spos suck big time on the road. They are just a different team.

Tucker is doing OK as a starter...but he can't go more than 5-6 innings.

Wow were done :(
